True Strenth
Tenten is strong.
She is often overlooked because she doesn't have the loud, commanding strength that people like Sakura, Ino and Temari possess nor does she hold the quiet, gentle strength that becomes Hinata.
Those who only see the obvious will see Sakura, Ino and Temari and those who look beneath will see Hinata, but there are so few people that are in the middle and can see the not-quite-obvious, yet not-quite-invisible and Tenten is a person in the middle.
But Tenten is strong.
She can deal with in-laws that hate her.
She can be overlooked, not eye-catching or underestimated, but overlooked.
She can love Hyuuga Neji.
Because Neji is a man of duty and duty will always come before everything to him.
Even before her.
Because Neji is a shinobi of the leaf and if Tenten stands in the way of this, being a ninja will win.
Because Neji is a Hyuuga and even though he has hated them, still (to a certain degree) hates them, he has long ago sworn his loyalty to the Hyuuga and if Tenten stands in the way of this, being a Hyuuga will win.
And the number one thing that Neji holds above her is a certain Hyuuga Hinata.
Because Neji's duty to Hinata goes far beyond duty to an heiress, to a cousin, to a comrade…
It is a duty that will always win against his duty as a shinobi, a Hyuuga, a husband…
It is a duty to a woman.
It is a duty to his heart.
And Tenten can accept that.
And Tenten can keep living.
And Tenten can keep loving (him).
Tenten can accept that her closest female friend is the one that holds her husband's heart.
Tenten can live with the fact that she will never be Neji's top priority.
Tenten can keep loving him despite it all.
Because Tenten is strong.
Strong enough to bear it all and keep on smiling a genuine smile.
Yes, I appologize to all you NejiTen shippers, but I dislike that couple. However, I have recently learned that Tenten may not be the bland, boring kunoichi that I previously thought she was and I have gained a sort of respect for her. Still, that respect doesn't put her anywhere near Hinata, so I decided to do a pro-Tenten fic as well as a pro-Hinata and pro-NejiHina fic.
Strange, NejiHina isn't even my top pairing (though it is a FAVOURITE) and yet this is my second one. I blame the plot bunnies.
