Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek in any way, shape, or form. I don't even own a copy of the movie, dammit DX
"No."
"Oh, come on! It isn't anything even remotely dangerous, Bones!" Jim pleaded, his bright blue eyes locked on McCoy's hazel orbs as he tried to get the stubborn older man to agree to his latest idea. The young Captain was aware that most of his harebrained schemes were dangerous, believe it or not. He just didn't have any sense of self-preservation. Leonard returned Kirk's longing gaze with a hard glare of determination, he would not give in to another one of Jim's foolish ideas. Not again.
"I said no, Jim, and I meant it." The doctor barked, running a hand through his short, dark brown hair in a frustrated gesture as he settled back in his seat and returned his gaze to the PADD in front of him. He had to complete the entire inventory for Med bay and was hoping that if he ignored his young friend he would get the picture and leave him alone. He heaved a sigh as he felt the captain shift even closer to him before the younger man plopped down into the chair directly across from McCoy's.
"You haven't even heard what I want to do yet…" Jim sighed, sounding so dejected that Bones couldn't help but look up from his work. Jim was pouting, though he would deny it if anyone ever mentioned it. Jim really did act like a child sometimes, but the man actually looked a little bit hurt.
"Alright, you win. What's this oh so fantastic idea of yours?" He asked gruffly, mentally slapping himself around a few times as Kirk looked up at him, all traces of hurt gone as a wide grin overtook his features. Why did he always fall for that damn pout?
'You know why, Leonard. You like him.' His inner voice supplied helpfully.
"Karaoke night! I got the crew a day of shore leave while the Enterprise is going through her routine repairs and there's a bar I've wanted to visit that has Karaoke." Jim announced proudly, staring at Bones with barely concealed excitement.
"Jim, that's…" Bones sighed, but paused as the request registered, "That's actually safe. Are you feeling alright?" The larger man asked skeptically, reaching over to place his forearm against Kirk's forehead in mock worry. Jim just rolled his eyes and stood up, straightening his gold command shirt.
"Just fine, Bonesy, just fine. So are you gonna come, or no?" He asked, looking at the doctor from beneath dark lashes pleadingly. Leonard sighed again, he just couldn't say no to the man.
"Alright, I'll come with ya, but don't expect me to do any singing, dammit. Who else is comin'?" The doctor grumbled out. Jim's answering grin was blinding.
"You, me, Spock, Uhura, Chekov, Sulu, Scotty, and Giotto. The usual group, yeah?" Jim replied, throwing an arm around the doctor's shoulders. Leonard just grunted and shrugged, effectively dislodging himself from the captain's grip.
"Yeah, okay. I'll meet ya at the bar if you'll send me the coordinates. I've got some work I need to finish first." Jim nodded and quickly grabbed the doctor's PADD, typing something in before handing it back.
"See you later then, Bones!" He called over his shoulder as he turned and jogged away, leaving Leonard to roll his eyes at empty air.
