I'm Sorry

Kagome's POV

Why? When you look at me...you seem so harsh...so mad...and as if you don't care. Deep down, I know you do care! But...then there's Kikyo. I hate it, I'm never known as Kagome. But Kikyo's reincarnation. Do I even have my own identity anymore? Inuyasha...I've told you many times that I am not returning to the Feudal Ages. But this time, I'm for real. I can't stay...my feelings are getting the better of me. I can't help you complete the Shikon No Tama, I can't help you defeat Naraku, free Miroku from the curse that has run through his family for generations, give Kohaku back to Sango, see Shippo grow up...just a little bit, and maybe even see Miroku and Sango start a family. But I want you to know, that I also want to see you and Kikyo happy again. Even though I hate being her reincarnation...doesn't mean I hate her. You understand? I hope you and Kikyo can restore the love that you both once had for each other. And maybe, you can forget me...and you won't have to live in guilt anymore. You can have Kikyo, and be rid of me once and for all. I hope that you won't miss me too much...but you have to know...I will always miss you.

Two silent tears fell down the young girl's face as she jumped into the well.

Inuyasha ran into the forest looking for Kagome. She had gone missing short after the last encounter with Kikyo. They hadn't kissed or anything, Miroku and Sango were there as well. Kikyo had tormented Kagome with her words, telling her that Inuyasha belonged to her and that he would never love her. Inuyasha protested, but Kagome didn't seem to hear him. He arrived at the Goshinboku. He was just going to keep walking until something caught his eye. At the base of the tree, there was the small bottle, inside, the fragments of the Shikon No Tama. Kagome...where was she? Kagome wouldn't go anywhere without the jewel shards. Then it hit him.

She left. For good.

But why? Why would she leave him? She didn't really believe what Kikyo had said did she? Oh please...don't let that be the case. The hanyou raced towards the well, and when he arrived, he placed his hands on both sides. "Kagome!!!" He screamed into it. "Kagome!!" He tried again. But both times, he got nothing. So, he jumped in. But this time, there was no blue light to greet him.

She...sealed the well? 'Damn you Kagome.'

Modern Japan

Kagome stood in the shrine, crying. She had heard Inuyasha's voice. "Kagome!!!" .... "Kagome!!"

"Please go away Inuyasha...please go away..." She waited...and she could no longer sense his presence. She turned away, still crying. She closed the shrine doors, and locked them, never again, will she pass through the well.

Feudal Ages

Meanwhile, Inuyasha had waited for Kagome every single day at the shrine. Hoping to see that wonderful smile, and brilliant eyes again. But it had been centuries, yet he never gave up. One day, the hanyou was sitting beside the well peacefully, he got kind of drowsy and closed his eyes. Those golden amber eyes, were never seen by another again...

The hanyou's last thoughts before death:

Kagome...I miss you so much, come back to me? Please? I need you....

Modern Japan

It had been only a few weeks since Kagome had sealed up the shrine. She decided that since the well was sealed, just to look inside one more time. She was surprised that when she opened the door, the well was no longer sealed. But she didn't have the shards, so she jumped in. Just to feel what the feeling was like once more. When she landed at the bottom, she looked around and it took her everything she had not to cry. Something caught her eye. Someone had carved something into the wall of the well. Tears fell as she read the message.

"Kagome, I love you. Come back to me, please. -Inuyasha"

Little did she know, that Inuyasha was no longer there.....

The End
