Labour Pains
She's with Jane when it happens, organising paperwork and putting it into folders for her when a searing pain stabs her down below. She grabs the table, panting softly and Jane has to ask if she's alright. Darcy thinks she's okay but when the water starts flowing between her legs, she really isn't okay and she sinks to the floor, moaning in pain. "Get Bruce!" she hissed.
Jane nods and it's not even 5 minutes later when Bruce bursts through the lab doors; he's panicking but he's keeping The Other Guy in control. Darcy has managed to position her back against the wall and she's in a sitting position but she's whimpering as the pain courses through her, her bulge makes it hard to move.
"Darce?" Bruce asks softly as he runs and sits by her side, holding her against him as she cursed and called him every name under the sun. His pulse is quickening but he knows he has to stay calm for Darcy's sake; The Other Guy is growling in the back of his mind. He hates seeing her in pain.
"It hurts Bruce, it hurts." She whimpers and he kisses her forehead, running his fingers through her silky brown locks.
"I know, I know, but it'll be worth it, you'll see." He reassures her and Darcy doesn't know whether or not to believe him
The pain is worth it in the end though, as an agonising 10 hours later, Darcy is watching her husband lovingly hold their son James Daniel Banner in his arms. Home is where the heart is and they had theirs with each other and their baby boy.
