Her hands lightly wrap around her knees as she stares out her window. Her eyes close as she feels the breeze from the outside hit her face, blowing her long hair across her skin. Even though she can hear the loud chatter and traffic from the city, her mind is still able to go back to the summer days she spent in the country where a piece of her heart will forever remain.

Riley Matthews spent her summer months from school in Texas. Right before school was about to finish for the year Riley's mother received an invitation from a client to spend two months at a horse ranch in Texas. So the mother of two decided to bring the entire family along, minus Riley's best friend, Maya Hart - who Riley swears is her soul sister.

Riley and Maya planned to have another epic summer together. The duo have never been separated for longer than a week and Riley missed being able to talk to Maya about her trip, especially the most memorable and scariest part.

She met a boy there and fell completely head over heels in love with him. The last thing Riley ever thought about during the vacation to Texas was to meet a charming southern gentleman and feel strong emotions she's never experienced before. Unfortunately, summer had to come to an end so she had to say goodbye to the first boy she ever loved and would never see again.

Now, Riley is back in the city and she can share the secrets of her summer away to her best friend.

With a timid smile, her eyes open again in hopes that she'll see her best friend sitting right beside her like she always does. Maya always climbs through the window whenever one of them need each other.

She can't help but wonder if Maya will even believe anything she tells her about the handsome golden boy from Texas. Riley almost can't believe herself that he's real. It's like he came right out of a love story or movie. He's too perfect but Riley still managed to gravitate towards him anyway.

If there's something Riley knows for certain, life isn't like a movie and nobody is perfect.

A/N: This is probably the shortest prologue ever for a story but I hope you enjoyed it. I didn't want to give too much away just yet. It's my first Rucas story on this site and I'm very excited about it! Any feedback you'd like to give would be appreciated :)
