Disclaimer: I don't own FE.

I wrote this because I wanted to write something for Leo/Azura (since there's nothing for them there), and also because I need to get bck into my writing groove. Idk how good this is, but I like it.

The Solitary Singer

"He took this mayden then aside,
And led her where she was not spyde,
And told her many a prety tale,
And gaue her well of Watkins ale."

Leo blinked, sitting up. For several hours now, he'd been slumped in a large armchair in the Touma Royal Library. The library had several interesting books and manuscripts which had been deemed lost, and Leo had found it a good place to spend his time. He'd found a good secluded spot at the far end, with a large window and a couple of overstuffed chairs, where he could lose himself for hours and not be disturbed.

Except for now.

As he listened to the song, Leo found himself grinning. It was quite a racy song, and he debated revealing himself to the singer and giving them a shock.

'Quite a nice voice, though,' he mused, 'quite like-'

His eyes widened as realization hit him.

Azura.

Looking over the back of the giant armchair, he spotted the blue haired princess wandering on the far side of the room, several books and folders in her arms. She was clearly unaware of his presence, for she was singing quite freely.

"When he had done to her his will,
They talkt, but what it shall not skill;
At last, quoth she, sauing your tale,
Giue me some more of Watkins ale,
Or else I will not stay,
For I must needs away,–"

Leo's lips twitched as she threw he head from side to side, swinging her hips in time to her beat.

"The time is past;
Therfore, good sir, quoth she,
If you haue done with me-" She spun around and spotted Leo standing by his chair, a large smile on his face.

"-eh!" There was a thump as her books went crashing to the ground. "Prince Leo!"

"Princess, I apologize. I seem to have… interrupted you," Leo said, unable to stop grinning. Azura flushed red, staring at him with wide eyes.

"I-I- you were listening!" She exclaimed, her voice slightly high-pitched. "I've told you, Prince Leo, please tell me if you're there!"

"I wasn't listening on purpose," Leo explained. "I've been sitting here, reading for most of the afternoon. I have no clue when you came here."

"…Oh. 'Azura glanced at his abandoned armchair, then looked back at him. "H-How much did you listen-?"

"Oh quite a lot," Leo said, "I was actually wondering who it was, although I'll admit, your voice should have given it away, its quite pleasant, and you do such justice to the timbre…"

"Oh, just laugh if you want to," Azura huffed, her face going even redder, "I-I just got carried away, its- just-" trailing off, she bent down to pick her scattered books up.

Oh, its alright Azura," Leo said, going forward to help her, "your voice is nice, and I appreciate the fact that you're able to let loose a little."

"A little too loose," Azura muttered, and Leo laughed.

"Oh come on my lady, its not that bad," he said, handing her the last of the books, "I'll admit, I've heard worse during the parties at court in Nohr."

"Really?" She looked up curiously, and he nodded.

"Trust me. Some of those were even accompanied by the most vivid gestures. I will admit, it left quite an impression on a child. A rather confusing impression, but an impression for sure."

Azura let off a sudden laugh. "I'm sure it did," she said. Catching his eye, she flushed and looked away again.

"Ahem!- um, thank you," she said, standing up, her face somewhat composed into its normal blank self. Leo stood up as well, dusting himself off.

"My pleasure, my lady," he said. "Its nice to get a chance to hear you sing."

"Ah yes," she answered, "please just don't tell anyone about this."

"Don't worry," he said, smiling and bowing to her, 'I will guard the secret with my life."
