When Nathan walked into the station and saw Audrey sitting in her desk wearing the shirt he gave to her to look more local, he remembered the dress the Audrey wore to their dinner. "Wow she was so beautiful. When I first saw her I was speechless. And the dinner went pretty well too. Well except for the rotten food and everyone getting sick. Oh, and stupid Duke flirting with Audrey. I hate that guy. But he did leave us alone."
When Nathan walked in Audrey remembered their dinner date. Well it wasn't really a date, but still. She remembered the way his eyes sparkled when he saw her in the dress. Audrey loved his eyes. She can always get lost in them. "The way Nathans eyes looked when Duke came and sat down almost looked like jealousy. No, what am I thinking. We're partners and friends, nothing more. Ok I should stop talking in my head now, and should start talking to Nathan.
"Hey, Nathan, you still in there?
"Oh yeah sorry"
"It's ok, want to go and get some pancakes?"
"I love to"
Then Nathan smiled at Audrey, the smile that she began to love so much. When they were out of the station and halfway to Nathan's jeep he asked "So is this like a date?"
"What?"
"Oh nothing"
Audrey started to smile. "It can be if you want it to be."
"I want it to be."
Nathan and Audrey walked into the diner holding hands.
