The season's had come, and gone and winter had finally arrived. Bella smiled as she watched the snow fall. This was her favorite time of the year. Every year she flew back to her hometown of Forks Washington to spend Christmas with her family.
She ran around her room putting on her socks, making sure to grab a heavy jacket and her camera. She raced downstairs and put her short cut ugg boots on. The snow was just starting to re-coat the ground and trees. She took a bunch of pictures of the scenery before retreating inside for some hot cocoa.
"Hey honey." Her mom said smiling. "Hi." Bella said back. "Did you get some good pictures?" Her mom asked. "Yeah. They should make a nice addition to the rest of my photos back home." Bella said taking a sip of her cocoa. "Oh. Don't forget we're going over to the Cullen's later." Her mom said before retreating back upstairs.
Every year since Bella was born she remembered going over to the Cullen's house for Christmas dinner. Renee had met Esme when they were in college, and kept in touch as the years went on. Esme had met Carlisle and they had settled down in Forks also. They had a son, Emmett, who was one year older than Bella.
Later that night Bella was all dressed up and ready to go. They walked across the yard and onto the Cullen's porch. The door flew open where smiles and hugs were thrown all around. Smiling, Renee invited them in. "Good to see you Bella." Esme said smiling at her. "Thanks. It's good to be home." Bella said before hugging her.
Conversation flowed easily and soon it was time to eat. "Seems like we can't start just yet." Renee said frowning and looking towards the door. "Where's Emmett?" Charlie asked. "I'm not sure. He said he'd be here." Carlisle said. Suddenly the door opened and there he stood; Emmett Cullen himself. He was all bundled up in a big black jacket, jeans, and a gray beanie. He smiled and rushed into the house and out of the cold.
"Emmett!" Esme said rushing towards him. He smiled and took his mom into a great bear hug. Bella looked up and their eyes met. Bella had forgotten how the years had blessed Emmett. His hair was a nice dark brown, complimenting his dark brown eyes. He had worked out a lot for football in high school so he was big and buff. Most people were scared of him because of his muscles but deep down he was a true sweetheart and a momma's boy.
They all sat down and talked about their lives; exchanging stories and gossiping occasionally. Soon dinner was over and Carlisle, and Charlie were in the kitchen helping Esme, and Renee clean up. Bella and Emmett retreated to the couch and turned on old Christmas shows. They talked casually, but all to soon Bella was feeling tired so she told her parents that she was going to go home.
"I'll walk you to the door." Emmett said smiling. "Thanks." Bella said putting on her coat. Emmett opened the door and they walked out together. "Well goodnight Bella." Emmett said smiling softly. "You too." Bella said returning his smile. Emmett rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "What?" Bella said curiously. "Mistletoe." He said pointing the ceiling and there it was. Bella blushed and looked down.
Emmett moved closer to her and took her in his arms. He gently placed a kiss on her lips before pulling back, and smiling.
"Merry Christmas Bella."
