"Olórin"

Work: The Lord of the Rings
Character(s): Gandalf
Category: Poetry
Rating: PG

I think this poem's pretty good... The lines in quotes are taken from the book, "The Fellowhip of the Ring."

-----------------------------------------

"I said not so; yet evil came"
A shadow the Elves do not name
The demon of a long-gone foe
And where it lay they did not know

And deep they delved, the anvil rang
Yet unaware of fire and fang
And what they woke in Khazad-Dûm
Drove them fast to stony tomb

"Of all Elf-banes the most deadly"
The Music but a fiery medley
And harsh it hit a dissonance
As the wizard fought in their defense

The bridge he held, with Glamdring raised
His staff glowed bright, his face unfazed
And light of stars was in his eyes
The demon fell to its demise

But by the creature, down he went
His staff did break, his might was bent
And those who loved him knew not why
Their friend and mentor had to die

I'm rather punctuation-challenged when it comes to poems, lol. Please review and tell me which lines you liked the most/least. Balrog candelabras to all who do!
