A different beginning to episode 303 – the end of innocence

This takes place right after ryan punches the dean and is kicked out of school. Ryan telling sandy and his reaction to it .

Summer: oh my god (covers mouth, shocked)

Seth: that's not good

(we then see Jack slowly get up off the ground. Ryan looks at him. Marissa looks from Ryan to Jack, worried. Jack stands up, holding his bloody nose)

Jack: (laughs) well this is my lucky day (Marissa covers her mouth) (Ryan looks at him) here I thought I was gonna have'to work to throw you outta this school (clicks mouth, smugly) but you did it yourself (Ryan looks at him) get outta here...either of you ever set foot near this school again, I call the police (raises eyebrows)

(at this moment the familiar tune of California begins to play

Ryan and marissa walk out together.

The four of them ryan, marissa , seth and summer were sitting in the diner shocked .all of them were trying to absorb the intensity of the situation , especially ryan , he d blown the chance the cohens had given him. He had been given such a great opportunity to be different from his family , to go to college but now it was over . he had no idea how was going to break the news to sandy . sandy was already so stressed out with Kirsten in rehab and having to take of the house himself that ryan didn't want to upset him even more .

Marissa was still crying , seth and summer were talking about what school would be like without ryan .

Ryan couldn't take it anymore he needed to get back home , even if that meant running into sandy.

"hey , so I am going to take off . its getting late"

"yeah me too" marissa said softly

they all decided to head back home. After dropping off marissa and summer , ryan and seth started discussing how to break the news to sandy.

They reached home by about 11:45 and found sandy waiting in the kitchen .

"how was the carnival ? you boys had fun?" he asked

"yeah yeah!...summer through a totally awesome carnival" seth went on

"ryan?" sandy had been a lawyer for several years and ryans face was anything but convincing

"uhm…yeah , yeah it was good" ryan said

sandy didn't buy it .

"is there something troubling you kid?"sandy asked

ryan and seth stared at each other . "he s good , I am going to give summer a call" seth said leaving the kitchen.

Ryan decided that it would be best to tell sandy as there would be no point lying he would know eventually and ryan just couldn't lie.

"today at the carnival something happened" ryan began

sandy was completely focused on ryan . ryan explained everything , how the dean pulled marissa off the ferris wheel , how he had his hands on marissa . At the end when ryan was done with his quick monologue , hoping that sandy would not catch everything sandy s face had shown a very serious and shocked expression.

"you punched the dean of discipline?" sandy said raising his voice

"he had his hands on marissa"

"which is wrong you've got to stop thinking about marissa cooper and start thinking about yourself !how are you going to graduate on time ? how are you going to get into any college with this in your file? Ryan how could you.."

" sandy I m really sorry"

"I guess having Kirsten gone is making me soft, go to sleep we will talk about this tomorrow"

"okay , good night sandy" saying this ryan headed towards the pool house.
