Yes, I know I know, this isn't really a "FanFic" but the inspiration came from the Samurai X OVA's and the song from the OST Sound of Falling Snow By Taku Iwasaki.
I recommend listening to the song while reading this poem. The song itself, conjures a bittersweet feeling that manifest from the heart that spreads throughout your entire body (or, that is how I feel at least).
In actuality, I intended for this poem to represent the "Post-Tomoe" days that Kenshin endured before his fateful meeting with Kaoru.

Walking through this world of sadness...
I am interrupted by the sound of falling snow...
Leaving a trail of such radiance...
It glistens in the morning sky...
Refracting the sun's golden rays, grasping the
world in a timeless state...
I feel warm inside and my eyes begin to tear...
A single snowflake descends upon my cheek and
reminds me of her sweet kiss...
The warmth fades and tears begin to stream...
I move on in this world of sadness with only the
sound of falling snow to guide me...
