The doctor had been in a giddy mood. He had planned out a night out just for the two of them. No Amy. No Rory. Just them. He had talked his way I to 4th row tickets for the Sydney opera house in the year 2171. He spun around the flicking switches ready for takeoff. He pulled the screen around to see that he had received a message from River, "storm cage, year 2028." The message was unusually short and dull, but that never occurred to the doctor for he was still full of excitement. He spun and leaped for levers humming a classical song popular in the year 2171. The TARDIS landed and even she had a giddy air about her. No one could blame the beautiful machine, everyone liked 2171 classical. The doctor straightened out his tux that lay neatly on the chair. He smiled to himself and flung open the TARDIS doors not waiting for her to come in, "HELLO RIVAH!" He continued as he ran into the TARDIS in haste "today isn't going to be a surprise, a pity really do love surprises, but any way I just have to tell you!" He continued to shout as he searched through a box full of bow ties, " today's destination is the most beautiful place and really makes you want to dance, although it is highly unadvisedly which is really just a shame Amy showed me some new moves..." He slowed his babbling to a confused stop when he saw River slipping on a brown leather jacket and standing in the door frame with a determined look that she tried to use, unsuccessfully, to cover her sad and hurt expression, " I'm afraid not today sweetie," she said as she strode into the TARDIS. The doctor stood frozen two bow ties in hand, staring sad and confused at River as she walk to the counsel. The TARDIS blew some steam and a mechanical grown rubled through the room "sorry," River whispered without a change in expression and she slightly rubbed the counsel. "I have some where to be. I do need a lift though." Dropping the bow ties to the ground and stepping over the overflowing box the doctor walked to River he put his hands on her arms and looked down at her. She put her hands on his chest. "But what about dressing up all fancy and going out and, and, and, our night out, just you and me!?" He squeezed her arms tighter and searched for an answer in her eyes. She lifted one hand to his bow tie and straightened it. "The planet Okhan, 4012 please" she didn't even look at him. They stood still in silence in the TARDIS for a long moment until the doctor let go and walked to the TARDIS counsel, his shoulders low as he flipped some switches and the TARDIS roared to life. After a couple of minutes the TARDIS landed and the doctor leaned over the counsel and watched River walk to the door. She opens the door and turned to look at the doctor. He frowned and looked into her eyes. She was expressionless but her eyes looked as if they were calling out for help yearning for him to hold her and pleaded for forgiveness. But both said nothing and River walked out and shut the door.
