Author's Note: The song 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight' belongs to Elton John. I was inspired by an Escaflowne fanfic (of the same name) to write this. But please don't flame me and just give me a nice review! That's all I ask…please?
(4/28/05) Since fanfiction dot net has banned the printing of other people's song lyrics, I have been forced to remove the lyrics from this story. But it's really nice listening to the song while reading this at least!

Can You Feel The Love Tonight
By Charles Xavier
…
"(How long has it been)?" Ashitaka asked himself under the rustling leaves. He walked alone through the forest during the cold windy night, and ignored the Kodama watching him pass them silently. The wind blew stronger and his skin began to freeze. The young adult continued to walk onwards, despite the slight cold he was catching, towards a deep blue lake.
It had been ten years since Ashitaka had seen her…San had not been heard of for such a long time, too long in fact. It made him feel upset and lonely as he sat down by the deep blue water reflecting the moon's light. He feared that perhaps death had become of her. But every year he came to this forest in hopes to see her, Ashitaka had never known that San was always there with him…concealing under the shadows of the trees around him. Throughout the years, she had grown too afraid to show herself to the human…the enemy…the only man she had actually had a true crush on...
She couldn't hide this forever anymore.
San stepped out from the trees behind Ashitaka, and began walking in his direction. Indeed, it was true that she was glad to see him again, but she wondered also on how he might be feeling about her. Her absence had only made him depressed year by year, and she could see it clearly. If she was suddenly going to show herself to him after all this time…how would he feel then?
Whatever the answer, she was willing to take the risk. "Ashitaka?"
"San?" Ashitaka whispered as he listened to the deep, female voice speak his name. "Is that you?" Praying to himself that he wasn't hearing voices, he turned around to see his visitor.
And it was her. Standing there, he saw that she had grown taller, mature yet still as beautiful as she always had been…like a real princess would.
"Yes." She smiled and took a step towards him.
"But…why?"
San gave another step forward and looked parallel to his eyes. "That isn't important…what's important right now is that I've finally got to see you again, for real."
Ashitaka stared at her. "How long has it been since I ever set my eyes upon yours?" He asked. And San obviously knew that answer to that question.
San came up and brought him into a tight embrace as tears ran down her cheeks. "Long enough, Ashitaka, long enough." She replied.
"I love you, San." Ashitaka said, kissing her on the forehead.
"And I still love you too…even if you are my enemy."
