What if?
"Ne Kaede."
Deep blue eyes turned to look at mine. Strands of black hair falling gently in front of his pale beautiful face. He was so freaking beautiful, did he even know? Did he even care?
"."
"What if . " I trailed off as I watch his eyes frown slightly; god I love him, my Rukawa Kaede, mine.
"Nande Akira?"
Akira, my name leaves those lips so perfectly, Koshino accuses me of being "too sappily" in love, heck, I never even said anything when he bought those daisies for Jin of Kainan! Who the heck is he calling sappy?
"What would happen if I stopped breathing tomorrow?"
Those blue eyes are frowning at me now as he contemplates my question. It was actually something I read in the newspaper that triggered off my question, a couple had died together, refusing even to be separated in death. I fidget slightly under his intense gaze; long fingers crossing and uncrossing as I pull strand after strand of green grass from underneath me.
"Why?"
"Because . nothing," I shook my head, laughing slightly. Maybe I really didn't want to know the answer, it might hurt instead. Rukawa looked at me for a while more before stretching out and laying his dark raven head on my lap and closed his eyes. I ruffled his hair fondly; how many people have this chance? To ruffle THE Rukawa Kaede's hair was something quite close to prestige.
The silence was soothing, with the quiet bubbling of the stream close by and the random chirping of birds all around us. I was glad to have skipped school today, and even happier than Kaede had agreed. The silence was tempting and I was being lulled to sleep slowly, when Kaede stirred and turn to face me, dark blue eyes concealing the emotions that lay beneath.
"Nani Kaede?" I murmured sleepily as I ran a hand through his dark locks.
"I would stop breathing as well," Replied Kaede in his monotonous manner as something flickered in those liquid depths.
Time stood still as the wind rushed past us, touching us with her coolness and the birds chirping in the trees. I wasn't aware of them, I only saw him, Kaede, with his dark blue eyes and raven dark hair.
Then, I knew, and the moment passed, a moment in time, the moment that would forever be so very dear to the both of us. Kaede smiled, a faint tugging of the lips, it was something so subtle and slow that it seems almost magical before he rose up and kissed me fully on the lips. Sometimes, it was better to know.
