Yay! New fics! I know, I can't even get my others done, but I get so many sudden bursts of inspiration that would be impossible to work into other stories... So, this one may not be long...

Crossover: Cowboy Bebop/Rurouni Kenshin

Edward sat playing e-chess, having found a new, slightly less challenging opponent than Hex. Ein sat sniffing Ed's foot, God only knows why. Spike was smoking quietly and Jet was in another room yelling at Faye. Everything was normal on the Bebop. They weren't hunting down anyone right then, but they would be landing on Earth soon, because they had once more run out of food. They only hoped they wouldn't find only mushrooms this time. They had learned the hard way how disgusting mushrooms really were.

"Faye-Faye is too loud! Edward cannot concentrate!"

"Well, if Jet would quit staring at his stupid trees and answer me-"

"Don't talk about my bonsai like that!"

"Quit yelling!" Spike finally interjected, "We'll be landing soon anyway."

"Good, then we can eat." This was Faye.

Battousai stared up into the sun setting in the auburn sky. What was that up there? 'Oh... just another ship. This better be the one.' Battousai was waiting for a ship. Boss would be angry if he didn't have that man's head and he was supposed to be getting in that night. He'd seen so many ships that did not carry this man and was beginning to yawn. He wished the guy would just hurry up and get there so he could get through killing him. He watched the speck above him grow. The ship landed before him and saw that this, too, was the wrong ship. He turned to walk away, but before he got far, he was met by a little girl.

"Hi!" the little girl yelled, "I'm Edward!"

"Who ever heard of a girl named Edward?" Battousai muttered.

"Watcha doing?"

"I was waiting for... someone, but he's not here. Why?"

"You weren't looking for Spike were you?"

"No. Why do you ask?"

"Spike's a bounty hunter!" she squealed happily, "Were you looking for someone for your job?"

"Yes." he said, making a note to watch out for this Spike-person.

"What is your job?"

"I'm a..." he thought for a moment. He shouldn't scare the little girl, should he? The first non-dangerous thing that came to mind was housepainter. So he ran with it. "I'm a housepainter."

"Can you paint the Bebop too? I want it green!"

"No."

"Awww... Ed really wanted a green Bebop." She picked up a rock from the ground. "Can you paint this green?"

"I don't have any paint with me."

"Edward has paint!"

This child was persistent!

"Wait here! Ed has paint!" He wanted to turn and leave but the violet-eyed pacifist within him, namely Kenshin, wouldn't let him go anywhere. He wasn't going to let the poor girl down like that.

Inside the Bebop, Spike was talking to Jet and Faye excitedly about the picture they had just seen on the television. Edward listened as they talked and she was searching for her green paint.

"A red-haired guy?" asked Faye, interested, "Exotic."

"Ed has red hair!" Edward piped up.

"We're looking for a red-haired man, Ed."

"Ed knows a red-haired man!"

"Is his name Battousai?"

"I don't know."

"Does he have a giant red scar on his left cheek?"

"Ed does not know"

"Well, find out, Ed! There's a huge bounty on this guy!"
