Trouble on the borders

By Emily Coakley

It started when a strange shape glowed over my head. "It looks like we have another child of Hades," said a very familiar voice.

I woke up in a strange cabin on my own shaking. I didn't even know my own name and more importantly where was I? I thought to myself. It was an hour until dawn; I got myself dressed and walked down to the beach to find my friend. "Hey Marcus, could I ask you something?" I asked the guy sat on the sand in front of me. He turned to face me and said "Sure you can," as he smiled.

"Can you tell me who I am and where we are, could you tell me please?!" I asked. Marcus looked at me and said "You really don't remember much now do you?" I shook my head "Well your name is Amelia Little, you are sixteen and my older sister." He started "You are also one of the only two living children of Hades, are you alright Amelia?" he finished and looked at me. I saw the qualities of the children of Hermes possessed the sea green eyes, the tanned complexion and the dark hair. Then there was me, with my dark blue eyes, pale skin and the height when doubled with the power I could get when wielding a sword I was a force to be reckoned with. Marcus regarded me with a look that was familiar in many ways to me but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.

"Marcus! Trouble on the camp's northern boarders! It's the Minotaur!" one of the campers shouted, I thought I knew him but I couldn't remember his name. I pulled my short sword out of my sleeve and ran to the northern borders of the camp. "Hey! Where did you get that sword?" Marcus shouted after me. I turned to face Marcus and said "all I remember about this sword Marcus is that I was given it by my father." After I had said that I ran for the camps borders. Marcus wasn't far behind me, we both got to the borders of the camp fairly quickly. The Minotaur was half-man and half-bull which really confused the life out of me. I started to mutter Latin for some reason but whatever I was saying was causing dead soldiers to appear out of the ground. People turned to face me and saw the dead soldiers coming out of the ground "Holy cows" one camper said

"She must be a child of the lord of the Underworld," a centaur said (yes I said centaur). I took one look at the soldiers and they all charged towards the beast. Marcus looked at me, I was paler than normal, my hands where physically shaking. "Amelia? Are you alright?" my brother asked me but he was met with a blank expression coming from me and my sword clattering to the ground. The shock of summoning so many caused me to collapse.
