This is based on the fact that both America's and England's food is too horrible to bear. If you are English or American and are easily offended by stereotypes, I apologi- wait why are you reading Hetalia if you are? I do not own Hetalia or its characters. Enjoy!

"I don't see how you can stand that stuff. It's watery and tastes bad!" America replied, trying, and failing, to imitate England's accent.
They were starting to see how long a day it was going to be. All this for a bet. They had both been complaining about how everyone refused to consume anything prepared by them. So, they managed to get themselves into a bet that said that they could only eat each other's food and drink for an entire day. And it was horrible. England was killing his taste buds eating greasy hamburgers and America was burning them eating too hot tea and hard rock scones. The only way they could get out of the bet was to admit that their food was terrible. And, of course, neither of them would do that. So there they would sit, wincing at the taste of each other's food until they day was done.
Ha ha America and England! If only you would admit how terrible your food is everything would go back to normal…
