The three-month mark had just passed. As most couples did, they had decided to wait for this day before officially announcing it to their extended family and friends.
Martha had figured it out quite fast. She had a "gift" when it came to knowing these things. She told Castle and Beckett she could "sense it". Castle was pretty sure she snooped around the apartment when he was out. They had told Alexis soon after. It was important for them that she knew and could be involved in the process somehow.
Kate had told Lanie while they were having one of their girls' nights in and Ryan and Esposito had found out a couple of days later. Ryan had actually shown up at work with a box full of books from when Jenny was pregnant. Kate had started reading them slowly, whereas Castle had speed read all of them to see if anything had changed in 20 years.
It was Saturday morning, Kate had the day off work and they decided they were going to send out an email to spread the news. Castle took hold of the computer and typed "Precious cargo on board" in the subject line. Kate started laughing and said, "There is no way we are sending that, I am not a ship!" Castle was about to start typing again when she said: "And don't even think about 'a bun in the oven.' "
Castle huffed and started typing again; the subject line now read, "Get ready to meet our bundle of joy!"
Kate threw him one of her patented eye rolls. Probably the biggest one she had ever given him and said, "Just because you're a writer doesn't mean we have to be all cute about it." Castle groaned and hung his head in resignation.
She turned the computer towards her and typed quickly before showing him: "We're pregnant and we're happy about it."
Finally something they could agree on.
