---
A strong hand pushes me down to the ground as I struggle to get up.
It's stronger than I expected.
My wound sears me with pain and I groan out loud without meaning to as the edges of my vision blur into a reddish-black haze.
Someone says 'not this time' from far away.
The hand clenches slightly, then lets go.
He stands, and I see it.
Something I've been expecting for years.
I knew this day would come.
Somehow, somewhere, someday… I knew it would come.
I was worried about it because I didn't know how he'd react.
But as I see the blood red haze come into his eyes now, I know.
And I pity our guard.
He thinks Daniel's an archeologist… a pacifist… a learner.
He would've been right yesterday. He might be right again tomorrow.
But not today.
Today, Daniel is a man capable of anything.
We're unarmed, but that won't matter.
Not today. Not to Daniel.
He's been pushed to the edge.
At that edge, you can either jump or hang on.
Daniel is hanging on.
I recognize it long before either Daniel or the guard.
This costs the guard his life, and Daniel his soul.
