Chapter 1

"It's almost time, Mizuki. The moon is rising." Hikaru said with a wolfish grin. He himself was already in the beginning of the first stages of transforming. "Just get it over with, Hikaru. I'm tired of your games." Mizuki said in fake confidence. She was scared. She knew she was going to die.

Hikaru grabbed two legs of the table and flipped it upright so Mizuki was almost straight up. She stared at him with blank green eyes. Hikaru slid the blade of the knife against her arm and drew a few drops of blood. Mizuki drew in a sharp breath and held it as he tapped the tip of the knife on the rim of the bowl. "Well, this is going to be fun." Hikaru smiled.

"Almost there, Mizuki." Hikaru chuckled. He stared down at the small puddle of blood that almost soaked the chain and claw. He already saw slight cracks in his ancestor's claw…a sign that the curse was breaking. Mizuki heaved and tried to breathe, but the pain of all the cuts on her body was crippling her. She stared at the metal bowl with unfocused eyes and then she dropped her head. "Giving up now, pup? We're only just beginning." Hikaru stated as he tilted her head up from its original position. He jabbed the knife into her body, twisting it to make the blood flow faster. Mizuki stared down at the knife that was buried in her chest. Her vision was beginning to go black. Mizuki's eyes slowly started to close…

.-x-.

"Mizuki! Mizuki! Wake up!" A gruff voice yelled. Mizuki's eyes snapped open to see a man with dark brown hair and one green eye staring intently down at her. Mizuki sat up quickly and turned to the man standing above her. He hand hovered over her scar on her chest.

"Sorry doc…Just another bad dream." Mizuki laughed while removing the hand on her chest and running her other hand through her white hair. She grabbed the snow white hair and started combing through the knots in it. Her hand paused slightly over the bald spot on the right side of her head. She sighed and looked at the man who had gone to leaning against the blank hospital wall.

"Mizuki, you can call me Hatori. You used to." Hatori stated before he backed up to pull out a magazine from his black doctor's bag. He tossed it onto her bed and grabbed his bag. "I'm stepping out for a moment. Read that magazine. There's something in there that I want you to see." He said, before turning and heading towards the door. He opened it slowly and slipped out.

She stared at the newest issue of a martial arts magazine. A wave of excitement washed through her as she stared at the cover. She set the magazine on the table before settling herself back in her bed. She felt a headache begin to form in her head. A sigh of irritation escaped from her lips as she glanced at the calendar sitting by her bed. It had been two weeks since she woke up from her coma. She felt fine, but the doctors said she was not allowed to leave until they were completely sure she would not have a relapse. Not to mention, she apparently had 'amnesia.'

The door opened and Mizuki turned her head to the person coming in. An elderly man with a white coat came to her bedside and smiled. "Hello, Tsukidorei-san. How are you feeling?" Mizuki returned his smile with a grin.

"I'm doing fine doctor, when am I going home?" She asked politely. The doctor walked around her bed and checked the monitor next to her.

"Well, you have been consistently getting better for two weeks…" He trailed off. He stared at the clipboard in his hand and then looked back at the girl.

"Your release papers will be here soon so that you can leave. Once Sohma-san comes back, you will be released." His smile faltered, and he sat down in his stool. "However, Tsukidorei-san, there's a few things that we need to talk about."

Mizuki slowly raised herself into a sitting position. "What do you mean, doctor?" She started getting worried.

The doctor set down his clip board and sighed a little bit. "Because of your amnesia, Tsukidorei-san, you won't remember most of your recent memories. So, we're going to bring you back to where you lived up until your accident so that you can get used to your life. I know it will probably be very stressful, but you will need to be around your old surroundings so that you can start to remember."

Mizuki nodded. Even though her head was beginning to hurt, she was still trying to listen to her doctor. She met a lot of people in the past two weeks that she had no clue who they were. Maybe if she listened, re-meeting these people would be a little easier. The only person she remembered was Kyo. But, she met a very nice girl about her age who was accompanied by a gothic one and a rugged one. Not too long after her, a boy with purplish-grey hair came in with a little light brown haired girl. He was very polite and the little girl was very quiet. Then, she met a girly boy with blonde hair that came with Hatori and then she met a very violent woman who abused Kyo.

The doctor stood up and walked towards the door. As he neared it, Hatori walked in with papers in his hands. They both exited the doors and immediately started talking.

She sighed and looked at the Martial Arts magazine that she discarded on her table. She grabbed it again and flipped through it. Another wave of excitement flowed through her. She kept flipping through the magazine until she came upon an ad for a high school. This high school was implementing a Tae Kwon Do class into the next trimester's curriculum. "Hum…How interesting. I wonder why they didn't just start it in the Spring…" She said.

Hatori came back into her room with a few nurses. The nurses worked on taking all of the equipment off of her while Hatori stood over Mizuki. "You know which high school that is, Mizuki?" He asked her.

Mizuki shook her head. "No, uh…Hatori." She hesitated. She was terrible at names. Hatori stayed silent for a minute before he crossed his arms. "That's your high school. That's where you attended high school a few months ago. Does it ring a bell?"

Mizuki shook her head again. The headache she was having increased in intensity. She closed the magazine and handed it back to Hatori. She felt bad for not remembering everything.

Before she could say anything, the nurses handed her some clothes. She took them and headed towards the bathroom.

.-x-.

"WELCOME BACK, MIZUKI!" People popped out from behind every corner in the house she just entered. Mizuki stepped back and bumped into Hatori. All these people who she never met were standing in her supposed guardian's house staring at her.

"Uhm, thank you everyone. It means a lot to me that you did this for me." She said quietly. She did not know how to go about talking to all the strangers in her supposed house. Polite smiles were all around her. She smiled back, but her head was starting to pound. Her vision was starting to blur.

Hatori brushed passed her and towards a black-haired guy in a robe. He grabbed the guy's collar and dragged him into a room.

Mizuki chose to go find Kyo and be near him. He was the only person who she remembered with any clarity. All these other people were giving her a severe headache. She could not handle all of these people at once. She felt terrible for not remembering the people that took time out of their day to welcome her home…wherever home was.

Despite those feelings, the headache outweighed everything else. Without thinking, she found herself back outside near a ladder going up to the roof of the house. She climbed it slowly, not sure why she was climbing it in the first place. But s she neared the top, the familiar bright orange hair greeted her. He lay with his hands cradling his head.

"Hey, Kyo." Mizuki said softly. Without turning his head, Kyo looked at her with his red eyes. A flicker of confusion passed through them before they softened. He sat up and stared at her. "So you remembered how to get up here, huh? Must not've forgotten everything." He stated, and then stared at the sky.

"Yeah. I had a feeling that you'd be outside. You're the only one I really remember anything about. But, not too much. Only that we have something very important in common…But I'm not really sure what that is anymore." Mizuki said truthfully as she took a seat next to him. Below them, everyone was having a good time. Despite this, she felt better being outside, away from all the strangers that seemed like they knew everything about her.

Kyo grunted and then looked at Mizuki who was staring at some fluffy clouds. "I wouldn't worry about what it is right now. You just got back from the hospital. You were knocked out for a little less than a month. The last thing you need to do is stress yourself out about what it is you can't remember. You'll figure it out eventually." Kyo said absentmindedly. So his hunches were correct. She didn't remember the Sohma family curse. Or even the fact that she was distantly related to them. All of her memories of the past few months were completely gone. She remembered absolutely nothing except for him.

For some reason, he wondered if that was supposed to mean something.
