I hate rain
Rain fell a lot in Japan, and caused everything to have a kind of misty glow. Not many people appreciated its beauty due to it falling so often, but many people associated it with emotions, like sadness, grief, or even relief.
As Ichigo walked home from slaughtering a Hollow, the grey clouds built up anonymously above. He did not like the thought of walking home in the rain, but he had his umbrella, so he was okay.
But Zangetsu was another matter. He was currently walking beside Ichigo, talking about the battle, and other things in general.
"So, you think I've gotten better at Demon Arts?" Ichigo asked.
"As good as one could expect." The taller man replied, nodding. "More study and you'll have master the 10 basic spells."
"Aaah, like I don't have enough study to do already!" Ichigo whined, annoyed at how difficult it was to learn something new, and something as troublesome as a bunch of wonky spells. But as an authorised captain in the living world now, he had to be as strong as he could be.
"Perhaps Urahara Kisuke could help you learn faster," Zangetsu suggested.
"Mm maybe … I'll have to call him sometime."
They continued walking, taking their time to return home. Zangetsu looked up at the sky and frowned, not liking the mass of grey he could see. It was bad enough that the moody teen next to him decided to pelt him with rain when he was upset in his own world, but to be rained on in the living world would make him just want to get out of both worlds to find a new, rain-free area.
Ichigo looked up at his Soul Slayer, and asked; "Hey Zan, what happens for a soul to get put into a Soul Slayer?"
Zangetsu looked down at Ichigo, and then thought for a moment, before speaking again, "There are many places for a soul to go once he or she dies, like a big hallway with an endless amount of doors. There are two hallways, one for the souls that have been good, and one for the souls that have been bad. You could say they are the pathways of Heaven and Hell, and it is pure luck where you go once you open the door. One of those doors is for souls who become Soul Slayers, and that was the door I chose."
Ichigo watched him for a moment, and then let his gaze return to in front of him. "I see, so you didn't know."
"No."
"Do you regret it?"
Zangetsu looked down at him again, and then winced as a drop of water landed on his cheek. He wiped it away irritably, "I only regret getting rained on."
Ichigo smirked, and handed him his umbrella.
