I own nothing
Dedication: To Hieiko, who's HieiHinageshi fics have inspired me to write them as well
Just a Dream
Hinageshi stared lovingly at the picture she held in her hand once more. After the detectives and herself won the battle (even though they could have all lost their lives), she had convinced everybody to let Koenma take a picture of them. She smiled as she recounted the memories.
Yusuke and Keiko in the back row of the smiling group with their arms around each other's shoulders while Botan and Kurama stood on either side of them. Kuwabara sat on the ground in front with Yukina leaning her head on his shoulder. Hinageshi herself stood by Yukina while Genkai stood on the other side of Kuwabara.
And for a moment, Hinageshi's eyes lingered on the last figure in the picture. Hiei was standing in the bottom left corner looking annoyed that Koenma had managed to take the shot before he escaped. Of all the people she knew, Hiei was the one who avoided anything to do with pictures the most.
Hiei had fast become Hinageshi's favorite. From the moment she set eyes on him, she fell head-over-heals for him. His saving her from the explosion didn't help much either. Even though it was brief, she would never forget the feel of him knocking her out of the path of danger to safety.
She never expressed her feelings to him; after all, they lived too far away for anything to happen between them. To her, he was just a dream. Sighing heavily, she set the frame back on her bedside stand then turned to stare at the navy blue sky lit only by twinkling stars and the brightness of the moon. Almost every night she had dreamed of being held in his arms, and feeling his lips... Stop it Hinageshi she quickly chastised herself. Quit your silly daydreaming.
She thought she heard footsteps behind but when she turned, there was no one there. I'm letting my thoughts get the better of me she thought.
She picked her head up once more when she felt another presence in the room with her. Turning around, she found herself face-to-face with none other than Hiei himself.
"Wha- what are you doing here Mr. – Mr. Hiei?" she sputtered shocked to see him there in the room with him.
He stared at her through crimson eyes. "I… wanted… to… thank you for… for… assisting myself and the others a few weeks ago." He looked as if he wanted to say or do something else but Hinageshi couldn't figure out what it was.
"Oh. Well, I um… thank you." she said.
Hiei turned to leave and Hinageshi turned back to star-gazing. But no sooner had Hinageshi turned her head than she felt Hiei's hand on her shoulder.
"Hinageshi," he said curtly.
She turned to answer but was cut off as his lips met her own. Her eyes widened then closed as she responded happily.
Maybe this dream was turning into reality.
She was ok with that.
