ACT I: Relapse

Chapter One: Memories

It all started about a year ago.

Lucas and Dawn were going to get married, and everyone was going to be happy for them. I was okay with that-I really was. As long as she was happy, then I was fine.

You see, the three of us-me, Lucas, and Dawn- were friends since childhood. It was a good childhood, because we were still clothed with innocence back then. We held each other's hands, played in the mud, and slept over almost everyday.

Those were good memories. They were great memories. It wasn't fair for a childhood as happy as that for us to just disappear so instantly and quickly.

Memories and life are no different, I know, but I still couldn't help falling in love with Dawn back then-but memories are all I have now. You'll see why the three of us each hold only a fragment of humanity. Our tale is heartbreaking, but I hope you'll sympathize.

Maybe you can help me overcome this loneliness.

It all started in the summer. We had all finished college, and no matter how many things I've learned, or how old I was, I was still the love-struck little boy with a big crush.

My love wasn't that of lust, no, it was never that. It was one by more pure, more innocent, more…childish means. But that was all shattered on that painful day.

It still hurts to remember.

We were all out for ice cream on a nice, bright day. We were still the usual pack-the lean, nerdy smart Lucas, the pretty and weight-obsessed Dawn, and, finally, the blond over-excited jumpy pants. AKA, me.

"Barry, we have some news to tell you," Dawn says to me. Her face is all smiles, and I can't help but stare. I was so stupid though, because I was expecting the least of things.

"I don't know how to say this, buddy," Lucas says, with a laugh. His eyes are sparkling, and I laugh with him, but I don't know why.

"Well," Dawn says, and she looks expectantly at Lucas.

"We're getting married."
