Harry swallowed nervously as he smoothed down his white button down shirt and tried to comb his hair into submission but to no avail. His stomach churned with nerves as the time to meet his date grew nearer. She was a lovely girl, chocolatey brown eyes and a waterfall of fiery red hair.

His stomach swooped as he thought of Ginny, piling her beautiful red hair on top of her head, slipping into a ball gown, preparing for the best night of her life. Ron sidled into the room, wearing deep red dress robes to see Harry staring nervously into the mirror.

"All right mate?" said Ron, coming over and standing next to Harry, fluffing his hair up.

"Yeah i'm kinda nervous though." said Harry, stomach churning.

"You'll be fine. Ginny likes you or she wouldn't have agreed to go with you." said Ron, clapping a hand on Harry's shoulder.

Harry nodded but it did nothing for his nerves. What if he messed it up? What if she didn't show? Don't be stupid. Harry thought, this is Ginny we're on about here. He turned round to face Ron, smiling weakly at him. Ron had an uncharacteristic stern expression on his face.

"Don't you hurt her or I'll turn you into a pumpkin." said Ron, wagging his finger.

Harry chucked despite his nerves and went back to the mirror, nervously flattening his fringe. When Professor Dumbledore had announced that Hogwarts would be announcing a summer ball, (The blossom ball he had called it) Harry and Ron had groaned, rather loudly. Harry had hastened to ask Ron's permission to take Ginny which was reluctantly given.

Ron had pulled his finger out and asked Hermione before anybody else could. His stomach gave a particularly nasty clench and he grabbed it, sweating with the nerves. Ron looked just as nervous.

"Where are you meeting Ginny?" said Ron, running a comb through his hair, looking slightly pale.

"The c..courtyard," Harry stuttered "I have to go."

Ron wished him luck and followed him out of the common room, Harry's hands were sweating as he reached the courtyard. His breath caught in his throat as he spotted Ginny, she was wearing a knee length dress, strapless dress. It was cinched in at the waist and flowed out in ruffles. It was a nice light blue that complimented her eyes.

Her hair was up, coiled in gentle curls around her face, with an added shine to it. He approached her on wobbly legs and when she smiled at him, his legs buckled. He got to her and smelt the lovely scent he associated with Ginny.

"You look beautiful." he breathed, voice wavering.

Ginny blushed and took Harry's proffered hand, squeezing it warmly. He kissed her hand and led her into the Great Hall which had soft, romantic music playing. He turned and smiled warmly at her.

"May I have this dance?" he said, smiling happily.

Ginny blushed and together they began to move as one to the music, stuck in blissful ignorance of all of the happy couples around them. Harry's nerves slowly dissipated as he looked into Ginny's eyes and realised with breathtaking clarity that he'd fallen in love. The nerves had all been worth it, just to see the happy look on her beautiful face
