Prologue:
The barricades went up 28 days ago and every day the security around it increased. The log cottage just outside of city limits lay empty, the owner making his way towards the city in nearly full gear stopping only once at a abandoned roadblock.
Garret looked around for anything that might have been useful to him. Glancing around there were a few scattered weapons and scattered gear he grabbed two guns, a Walter P99 handgun good for close combat and an FN P-90 sub machine gun, good for clearing large areas of people. Garret grabbed a few more things to use and started examining a map of the city and it's defenses.
The map showed the city in almost perfect detail from when it was completely intact as well as the defenses. Garret picked the best and quickest way into the city; he'd need to know it for when he actually entered the city. Most of the populace was still inside and was wanting out. He quickly gathered his stuff packed them away into his vest for later use including a few extra clips of ammo for his new guns and started making his way to the city walls.
It didn't take Garret to long to reach the massive city walls, the whole place had been in quarantine for 25 days now and the steady screams of survivors slowly started dieing out, now only a few groans can be head from the other side. Garret stepped up the stairs to the top of the wall, before him lay Raccoon city, the streets lay in ruins with no one in sight, he quickly tied one end of the rappel rope to a rail and climbed over it. Garret slowly rappelled to the streets below. Upon hitting the road Garret undid the rope and broke into a run, he still had some extra length should he need it later on.
It took Garret a few minutes of running to make it to the Police Department, passing dozens of zombies along the way. The front gate was already opened and that saved the time of having to take the lock off, Garret moved over to the small construction area going on and picked up a metal pole, he then stepped in the front doors of the PD and closed them before sliding a metal pole through the handles, it would break down eventually but for now it would hold.
Turning around to face the lobby Garret noticed the power was out except for the emergency lights, which glimmered off the marble floor. There was an unnatural silence that filled the air Garret raised his gun and started down towards the main hallway, He didn't like the looks of the place and suspected something was a little more amiss then normal.
