Chapter One

Remus awoke that morning after a strange dream. As his morning progressed, he began to remember more and more of it.

He was in the middle of buttering a slice of toast when he recalled the most disturbing moment of the dream. This realization caused the knife and partly buttered slice of toast to drop out of his hand and onto his plate.

His friends looked up from their own breakfasts with sleepy, yet curious eyes. A few moments passed, in which his friends expected their werewolf friend to say something. When he did not, it was Sirius to speak up first.

"See a ghost, Moony?" He said in a tone that would have been mocking, were it not for the sleep that still overcame parts of his brain.

Remus stared at Sirius with wide eyes, a blush beginning to form at his cheeks. His mind scrambled to find a sufficient excuse for his sudden bout of clumsiness. Remus could not bear to tell Sirius, of all people, the truth of his dream last night, it would have been far too embarrassing.

Sirius raised his eyebrows at his unresponsive friend, and this seemed to jolt Remus out of his reverie.

"I-I'm just nervous about the Transfiguration test today."

Sirius scoffed at this excuse, but seemed to believe it, to Remus' relief.

"You studied for hours last night, Rem. You'll do fine. Peter, on the other hand…"

"Hey!" Peter protested.

Sirius smiled at his friend's distress."You know it's true."

Nobody argued.

They sat through the rest of breakfast in silence. Remus reflecting on his dream. Sirius worrying about what Remus was actually worried about. Peter now fussing over the Transfiguration test. And James staring at a certain red head that sat a table away.

After Transfiguration, James and Remus had Arithmancy, while Sirius and Peter had Muggle Studies.

Peter does not actually need to take Muggle Studies, seeing as how both of his parents are muggles, but he did not want to take a class alone.

To the opinion of some, James Potter was too smart for his own good. James can somehow get Os on tests he's never even studied for. Now I know what you're thinking, being a Marauder, he probably cheated. He didn't. He is just too smart for his own good. And that is why he decided to take Arithmancy.
