I got fed up of doing coursework so I wrote this. It's better if you listen to the music while you're reading it, it adds to the atmosphere. :)
If you type Clair de lune into youtube then it's the first one that comes up.
Please review!
Pepper Potts was stood on the balcony, looking out over the beautiful Malibu landscape. It was 11 o'clock at night and the dark sky was lit up with the most beautiful, perfect moon, shining overhead and glimmering down on the calm water beneath. Pepper watched the waves lap up against the base of the cliffs below Tony Stark's beautiful home.
Then she heard the music.
It was soft, flowing, elegant, which were three adjectives that definitely did not spring to her mind when she thought of any music that Tony Stark played. Pepper walked down the stairs slowly. She saw Tony sat at the piano, a dreamy thoughtful and above all peaceful expression on his usually manic face. She'd thought the music was coming from a CD; she'd never for a moment imagined that it was Tony Stark playing.
She watched his hands as they gently and confidently drifted over the piano keys. She'd always thought the piano was just for show, until tonight she'd never actually heard him play it, didn't even know he could play.
The music was soft and lilting, and although it was a long time since she'd heard it, she recognised it. Debussy's Clair de Lune. It had always been one of her favourite piano pieces, not that she played it, and music wasn't something she'd been interested in as a child. She liked it, but had never learnt to play an instrument.
Pepper drifted down the remaining steps and went to stand behind Tony at the piano. He must have known that she was there. If he didn't feel her presence then surely he would have seen her reflected in the shiny polished surface of the piano.
If he did notice she was there he gave no indication, he simply carried on playing, and slowing down as the music got closer to its ending. Pepper, unable to resist, reached out and ran her fingers through his soft black hair. He noticed her then, he leaned his head back into her hands, while he playing the last few chords.
Pepper, unable to stop herself, leaned down and very gently kissed him.
She blamed the music, classical always made her feel a little gooey, or maybe it took away her self control, either way, as Tony wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her down next to him, kissing her back, she didn't regret it.
