Corvo fell on his bed, wanting to sleep for a very long time. He thought of his past actions (low chaos) and how it affected Gristol, in a good way. With Emily back on track and the plague going away, Corvo only wished that he had his dear empress beside him, to keep him company at that time. As he thought of Jessamine, he fell into a deep slumber.. unknowing that his life will take a turn in the most bizarre way anybody can ever NOT think of.
Corvo found himself standing upon the floating platforms of the Void. He said nothing and thought less, proceeding forward to meet his mutual friend. The Outsider.
As he's covered enough distance, the representational entity stood before Corvo, himself. (Corvo won't speak with quotations, only the Outsider will)
"My, my. It's been a long time since we spoke, didn't we?"
"After all the deeds you've done.. what purpose do you have right now.. to live? Other than protecting dear Emily?"
"Lately, out of all the people I've given my mark to.. you are the only one who had intrigued me a lot.. to the point of being such a mysterious person that not even I could.. let's say.. mess around with time to predict your future. You're immensely spontaneous and unique in a way, You never bore me, unlike the other people. They're so predictable, I wonder why I gave them the gift to begin with. And that's the reason.. my dear friend.. I like most about you."
"Because of this personal decision of mine, I give you an opportunity, Corvo Attano. It would be very different from what gifts serve you.. and others with."
Corvo looked at the Outsider, blank faced, with a bit of curiosity as to what he's going to propose to him. Not the typical Outsider, Corvo thought to himself.
"I'll give you an opportunity.. to be my agent. Right-hand man. Lieutenant. A trusty companion. A person by my side."
Corvo was instantly surprised by the proposition, bringing out a shocked face.
"I hope you won't regret it. Although I'm declared by others to be neutral and just some watcher of time and whatever lies within it.. I'd like to get mingled in certain things.. and for that, a companion would do good."
What will I benefit of this? Corvo thought in silence.
"What will you benefit of this?" The Outsider clearly read his mind.
"My powers of bestowing. My supreme powers. The energy, power and support of the Void. Immortality. Ti-.."
Corvo raised his fingers and pointed it at his mouth. The Outsider intrepreted it as his only request.
"You wish.. just to have the ability to speak? My, my.. you really interest me, my dear friend. For a person to consider normal attributes over supernatural things.. you really intrigue me to the very end. And why would you want that over everything a man desires in his life?"
Corvo began to show signs through his hand. And yet again, the Outsider seemed to intrepet what he wanted to say about it.
"With your daughter, Emily.. mhm? You're too humble, too very intriguing. Fine, then. You'll also get that."
The Outsider stretched his arm towards Corvo. Corvo, who wanted to speak with his daughter, willingly accepted the proposition and held out his hands towards the Outsider's hand. As his hand touched the Outsider's, darkness began to engulf his arm, shoulder and as it was quickly spreading throughout his body, he felt a burning sensation like before when he received his mark, but this time all over his body. He writhed in agonizing pain. He shouted. The Outsider smiled to himself. And everything went white.
Corvo suddenly woke up from his stale bed in his own private room in Dunwall Tower and asked himself.
"What did he do?"
Corvo noticed abnormal tattoos and lines extending from his original mark given by the Outsider throughout his arm and body, although it never extended to his face.
"What are these tattoos.. and wa-.. I can.. speak..?!"
