A Danny and Zoë fic.
Because there aren't nearly enough happy endings for the two. Spooks isn't mine but I wish it was. Reviews would be great if you like or dislike the story. On with the story.
Her name is Zoë Reynolds and she's a spy. Not that she'd ever tell you that. 20 something and lives with her flatmate Danny Hunter. He's a spook to.
Nobody could ever quite work her out. Pretty, intelligent yet sometimes doesn't think before she speaks. Yet single with a history of bad boyfriends.
No particular female friends just her colleges in section D. No her best friend is Danny Hunter. Together they drink, chat, gossip and on occasion fall into each other's arms asleep. And they cry.
Together they cried when their boss yet friend Tom Quinn was accused of murder and when he was thought to be dead. And again when he was decommissioned from the team.
True some people may say there more than friends but neither Tom nor Zoe was ready to admit to any such feelings.
Obstacles often stood in their way. Danny's brief fling with Sam and Zoe's near engagement to that French reporter. But they always spring back.
They thought it was the end when Zoe was accused of conspiracy to murder a police officer and by the skin of her teeth escapes a 10 year prison sentence.
Well she was sentenced to 10 years but Harry wouldn't see one of his best officers go down for something that was clearly a week attempt to make the service not seem biased to its own at Zoe's expense. So he arranges for her to flee to Chile.
Zoe was reluctant to go even to save herself. Sad to see her dream job drift away from her and say goodbye to her colleges knowing this was the end. But mostly Danny.
She couldn't bear the thought of leaving him.
Nor could he leve her.
And finally he said he loved her. Held her close as she sobbed on his shoulder soaking his shirt and leaving black streaks of mascara, distraught at leaving him.
He knows the only solution is he leaves with her. Harry refuses, tells Danny he can't flee to Chile with a woman who should be in prison.
Trough weeks of pleading, Harry tells Danny the only other person who knows about Zoe is the home sectary. If he agrees Danny may leave.
The HC bluntly refuses. Danny tries begging, pleading and bribery and as a last result blackmail.
He threatens to make public a certain "indiscretion" in the HC'S past.
Terrified the HC agrees and wishes the pare well.
New passports and identity's and Danny and Zoe bid a tearful goodbye to their colleges, friends and MI5.
An hour later Zelda Morgan (Zoe) and Antony Slater (Danny) board the plane and wish England goodbye.
On the plane a ring is produced and after Danny's nervous proposal comes Zoe's tearful acceptance.
Many years later with their 7 year old daughter Ruth and 5 year old son Harry they reflect on their decisions and decide as long as their together everything will be alright. X
