All characters belong to JK Rowling with the exception of Elise, whom I invented. The title comes from a line in the song 'The Author' by The Academy Is..., I entitled this story what I did for a few reasons. Firstly, the song was stuck in my head and secondly the line, "The search has begun, this is page one" seemed to fit. To me, this line seems to suggest the start of something new, which is sort of the theme for my story.

This Is Page One

Remus lay across the soft, brown sofa, feet resting on the arm. He closed his eyes and sighed. He was truly thankful for times like these. Times when he was alone and surrounded by silence. Times when he didn't have to choose between going out into the cold London streets or having to listen to Sirius' girlfriend's erotic moans and banging headboards.

They were nineteen-year-old wizards, one would have thought Sirius would have mastered the silencing spell by now.

Just as the young lycanthrope was beginning to drift to sleep he heard the tell tale sign that Sirius was home; the loud thump of boots and a heavy, almost angry, sigh.

With blurred eyes Remus gazed at his friend. He tilted his head to the side slightly and asked, "Are you okay?", but he received only a curt nod before Sirius turned and headed towards his bedroom, leaving Remus in his wake.

Quickly, he stood up and followed his friend, knowing that whatever was bothering Sirius he could soon sort it out. It had always been this way.

Neglecting to knock on the door, Remus strode into the small room and lay next to the dark haired man on the bed.

"Tell me what is wrong. I know something is wrong. Eight years of living with a person teaches you their mannerisms."

Sirius grunted and turned on his side to face Remus.

"You know that you're going to end up telling me anyway. You might as well stop wasting your own time as well as mine and just tell me now rather than later", coaxed Remus gently.

Sirius peered at the werewolf and started twirling a lock of his golden hair around his finger before saying, "Elise and I had a fight. We broke up. She hates me, and quite frankly, I don't even care."

Remus nodded at first until what Sirius had said sunk in, then his eyebrows knitted together and he turned on his side to face Sirius.

"Why are you in this mood then? If you were truly indifferent you wouldn't be in such a mood."

"I did care for her, just- just not as much as I care for you. I thought she loved me. I loved her, just not like that. I was never in love with her, but I trusted her. We were together six months and I thought that I should let her know that I'm an animagus" Sirius started, avoiding Remus' persistent gaze, "She thought Padfoot was cute. I told her the reason I became and animagus to start with-"

"You didn't. Please say you-"

"Hush, Moony. Let me finish. I told her of your affliction. I should have known that bitch couldn't be trusted. She kept saying things - negative things - about you. Made me choose between you and her. I suppose she thought I was going to choose her. Anyway, I wiped her memory and broke up with her. Told her it was because I didn't love her, had never loved her. Did you really think I'd let her keep her memory after all those awful things she said about you, Rem?"

Remus laughed a threw his arm around the larger man, shaking his head.

Rather short, I know, but I haven't written any fanfiction here in a long time.

Twenty-eight days to be exact!

I hope you liked it.

Love.

PS. Wish me luck with my GCSE results. I get them on the 21st of this month. I really hope I passed. Oh, and if you haven't heard any of The Academy Is...'s music, I suggest you buy some. Hehe.
