He was so cute. His tiny little hands reached up for me. I tenderly picked him up and cuddled him close. The adorable, little redheaded baby made a gurgling noise at me and blew a few spit bubbles. It's so funny how at this age it's cute but when he gets a little older it's gross. But he was real, not just a dream. I wasn't going to lose this one. he cooed softly and grabbed at my hair. His small fingers could just barely reach it. He tugged with all his baby might. In a few months it would hurt but not now.
"Lulu! He's soooooo adorable! I hope he doesn't have his daddy's hair though." Rikku giggled watching the small boy jump in my arms. Even Paine was smiling at the baby. Lulu looked at the three of us and smiled.
"He does have Wakka's hair color and nose."
"Well, we can't let him style his hair like his father." Paine said as she watched Vidina play with her index finger.
"He's defiantly got your skin tone." I said looking at Lulu. I looked back at Vidina. His joy made my heart so much lighter. But no matter how much time I spent with this happy baby it could never repair the damage that's been done. I never thought of having children or of getting married, but now... I can't. No one can measure up.
"Well well! Who knew you three would show up today!" Wakka exclaimed walking into the tent. He seemed so much older now. I guess that's what happens when you have children.
"Well hello Mr. Daddy Pants!" Rikku squealed jumping up to hug Wakka. The baby squeaked, screwed up his face, and started to fuss a little.
"Look what you did! You scared him." Paine said as she swiftly removed Vidina from my arms. Paine was surprisingly good with him. Gently 'shushing' him, she rocked him back and forth in solid but fluid movements. He quickly calmed down and had forgotten all about being upset. Paine once again gave him her finger to play with. Who knew that a baby could melt her heart?
So I wrote this on a torn piece of paper during church one Sunday while I watched my friend and her baby. She was raped last year and she now has a cute little baby boy. He just recently turned 7 months and he makes me so happy. But I hope ya'll enjoy this!
