No! No! Graystripe screamed inside his head. He looked into the raging river and yowled for his best friend Firestar. He sprang forward and hit the water below. He grabbed Firestar by the scruff. He's body felt lifeless. Oh no! Please don't be dead!
Graystripe heard a gasp and saw Firestar start breathing. He had just lost a life.
Graystripe heard a yowl and looked up to see Cloudtail. "Bring him here!" Cloudtail cried.
Graystripe struggled against the water and he sunk his claws into some earth and gave Firestar to Cloudtail.
Cloudtail reached for Graystripe. But suddenly, Graystripe felt his claws coming out of the earth. He heard Cloudtail cry as he fell to the water.
He was under the water. He struggled up and reached the surface. He breathed heavily. He looked around. He saw Cloudtail preparing to jump. He was about to scream no when he a giant log hit him on the head.
All he could see was black. I'm I dead? He asked himself. Suddenly, blue light surrounded him. Was it Starclan?
A silver striped cat walked up to him. Graystripe gasped as he realized who it was.
Silverstream.
"Silver…..stream?" he asked breathlessly. Silverstream nodded her head. Graystripe purred and was about to move forward when a sudden force stopped him.
"Your not dead, Graystripe." Silverstream said simply. Graystripe looked at her, longing in his eyes.
Silverstream stepped forward. She rubbed her head on Graystripe. Graystripe rubbed back.
Her eyes suddenly lit up. "When a cat sees though the eyes of a dog, he will understand."
Silverstream slowly started to fad away. "No!" screeched Graystripe. He ran forward but Silverstream was already gone.
Graystripe's eyes went cloudy. He could hardly see the white light that seemed to say go though.
Graystripe shook his head and stepped into the white light.
Graystripe saw green grass around him. Everything seemed peaceful. It was very warm and quiet.
Graystripe glanced around. Where was he? He suddenly heard a growl and swung around.
A big dog that was black and white loomed above him. He set his eyes on Graystripe and snarled. Graystripe backed up.
"What are you doing here? Cat!" the dog growled.
Graystripe couldn't believe it. He could understand the dog!
"I-I don't know….." Graystripe stammered. He backed up even further. The dog still crept forward.
Wait. Graystripe couldn't believe he was backing down without a fight. He looked the dog in the eye and hissed.
"Oh, I'm so scared!" grumbled the dog.
Just wait. The dog ran forward. Graystripe jumped on his back and scratched his sides.
The dog howled and fell to the ground. Graystripe jumped off and glared at the dog.
The dog scrambled to his paws and stared at Graystripe. "Wow, you're from the wild, aren't you?"
"Yes." Graystripe said proudly.
"Then I respect you." The dog said.
He lay down in front of Graystripe.
"My name is McKinley. What's yours?"
That was a weird name, but Graystripe was sure that when McKinley heard his name, it would be weird to him too.
"My name is Graystripe."
"That's a weird name." stated McKinley. He suddenly got up from the ground. "Let me show you around. You seem new."
The dog already trusted him? It seemed weird that McKinley was showing him around, but Graystripe could tell he was nice.
