"Daniel, I've come to a decision." Her accent was thick as though she'd been asleep, however it didn't mask the fact that the tone sounded somewhat foreboding, nor did it hide that delightfully slightly raspy, sexiness that unbeknownst to most could drive him mad.
When she strolled purposely into the room he responded with the look that Cam Mitchell once tagged as, "your typical archeologist in head lights."
Time seemed to slow as he watched the sway of her hips and the determination in her approach. His breath grew shallow, his mouth opened to speak...unsuccessfully.
Finally, she stood beside him, one brow hiked.
The clock ticked. He tried to control his erratic breathing as he pushed his chair away from the desk in response to the unspoken command.
With the grace of royalty Vala took her favorite seat.
Sitting on his lap, hands clasped and resting on her thighs, Vala stared at the wall on the other side of the room. Funny thing, she thought, was that there was very little wall to stare at that didn't have some overcrowded bookcase, artifact, picture or other nonsense on it.
Ankles crossed, she swung her feet slowly. Lips puckered, dark feathered brows scrunched in thought, she remained silent.
"Well?" Daniel asserted.
Taking a deep breath, she let it out in a weary sigh. "I'm very sleepy."
"And?" His tone was marked with the beginning of irritation.
She turned her head slowly, chin tucked down, eyes forming slits, mouth pursed tightly.
He blinked over blues eyes filled with regret for his snide response.
There was something else in those lovely blues, something just for her. A thrill shot through her, and she grinned wide. Vala looked straight ahead. "I do so love you."
His hand came to rest atop her tightly clasped hands. "But?" It came out barely above a whisper.
"No but, well except for your butt which I adore. So, yes." Though she didn't turn, he could see the wide and happy smile on her face.
He cleared his throat and didn't even try to mask the joy he felt. "Yes?"
"Um hmm." Pigtails bobbed, and the smile grew to deliriously happy proportions.
"You're sure?"
She turned then, twisting to face him, taking his face in her hands. "Oh, absolutely, darling."
"Why did it take you three days to come to a decision?"
"Three days without sleep, mind you. I've been waiting for this, you know. Waiting a long time for you to come to your senses. And I've always known the answer would be yes. I have an entire four inch binder of wedding planning ideas. So...I just wanted to give you time to back out...in case..."
"Never. As long as I'm alive, Vala, I'll love you." Daniel pulled her hands from his face and kissed each of her palms.
She whispered, "The Jaffa say, my darling, 'Pal tiem shree tal ma.'"
"Our love does not end in death."
"Yes."
It was Daniel's turn to take her face in his hands. "I say we seal this with a proper kiss."
Vala licked her lips, bringing her mouth a breath away from his. "I say we seal this with more than a kiss."
"Of course you do."
