Frobidden Fruit
I don't own any of these characters, nor do I seek to make any money off of them in any way. Aaron Sorkin is awsome I wish I had even an ounce of his genius. Please review if you enjoy it, or if you don't that's fine too.
CJ looked at the list her assistant had given her as she walked in. It was the day's roster of sorts. She had Staff in ten minutes and had a million things to get done, but instead she sat at her desk staring at the day's press notes. Number thirty six, Danny Concannon has left the Whitehouse and will be replaced by Tracy Lang until further notice. It was a blow to her stomach that he was leaving, but it hurt even more that he hadn't told her. She felt unwelcome tears start to pool in her eyes and hastily wiped them away before they fell. If he didn't even bother to tell me why should I cry over him? He was never really mine, there was nothing going on but a trivial crush and I ended it! There was a knock at the door and CJ looked up, using her gift for hiding her emotions under a smooth professional façade, burying her pain and anger. In her doorway stood a dozen red roses in a vase, rather a delivery man holding a dozen roses. She graciously accepted them and plucked out the card. Before she could read it Carol popped her head in to remind CJ she had to get to staff. The card would have to wait.
It was almost nine thirty at night before she remembered the card was still in her pocket. In bold letters it read, I love you she just stared at the words running her fingers over them. On the back was a little message, Three years and counting. Under Danny's name was a cell phone number. That was the whole message. He had left her, but he loved her and he was waiting for her. She finally allowed herself to cry. In the pressroom she'd faltered in her mind at seeing an unfamiliar face in Danny's seat. She missed him and he'd only been gone for a day, either this would get easier, or it would become harder with every day. She finally got some control over herself and grabbed a tissue. Then picked up the phone to call the man she was in love with, the man she would have to resist for the next three years, until she left her own personal garden of Eden.
