No More Goodbyes
Prologue
Once upon a time, there was a child who wore a smile so pure,
That its innocence was one that a person could not hope to obscure.
So sweet was the child, oblivious yet kind to all those who she saw,
Young and content, to her not a person she met contained a single flaw.
Her light brown hair fell to her shoulders with ease and with grace,
Bright green eyes, the color of grass, showed the happiness on her face.
She held dear to her heart her friends, whom she trusted,
To their moods and their wishes she always adjusted.
Accepting and caring were the words she lived by,
Because she never wanted to see her friends cry.
But a wise man once said that all good things come to an end;
For her friends whom she trusted she was always there to defend,
But there came a day when a piece of her heart disappeared without a trace,
No goodbye from him, not a smile or a wave, no clue left for her to chase.
The child was confused, hurt and betrayed, sad but awaiting the day he'd return.
But life didn't intend to bring him back to her, she needed to see, she needed to learn.
So along went another chunk of her heart, not a warning or signal to let the girl know.
She felt so abandoned, a feeling so cold, but they'd already left her, waiting in the snow.
The child, once so pure and so sweet, left the place she had known with a broken heart.
She went off to try and pick up the pieces, but now she had learned; now she was smart.
