Rain was pelting down across Jerusalem. Malik and Kadar sat at the Assassins' bureau. The rafiq had gone out, as had Altair.
'Brother...do you think we should look for Altair?' Kadar asked. 'You know he can't swim, and he hates rain.'
'He'll be fine.'
'What if he falls into a lake and drowns? I would never get over the guilt.' Damn Kadar and his puppy eyes.
'Fine,' Malik growled, snapping closed the book he'd been reading and wandering out of the bureau.
'I can't believe we're out in the rain looking for that novice,' Malik snapped.
Kadar ignored him. 'Altair! Altair!' he shouted. 'If you can hear me, yell or something!'
'He probably can't hear you over his ego,' Malik muttered. 'I mean, the rain,' he corrected himself when Kadar glanced at him carefully.
'Altair!'
Suddenly, from the roof across from them, there was a loud, sharp yell, and an even louder splash.
'Shit,' Malik cursed. Quickly, the two brothers went to the roof where they'd heard the yell.
In the water below them, they could see bubbles forming, and a flash of white, along with loud splashes as Altair desperately tried to keep his head above water.
'We have to get him!' Kadar cried.
'I'm not getting wet just to save his sorry ass,' Malik retorted.
Kadar gave him the puppy dog glare again before crying, 'Malik!'
'Fine!' Malik growled, diving into the water. He found that Altair's attempts at staying afloat had become weaker and weaker as his energy was zapped by the storm and cold. Malik grabbed his waist, before bringing him to the nearest beach. Kadar was already waiting there, extremely anxious.
'Is...is he alive?' he gasped.
'Altair!' Malik yelled, but the Assassin was unresponsive. 'Wake up!' He shook the Assassin's shoulders, pressed on his chest, even resorted to slappping his face, but still he did not get up.
'Is he...dead?'
Malik growled and gave Altair a hard kick on the chest. Suddenly, the Assassin's golden eyes spread wide open in shock and terror, and he sat up, violently choking and coughing up seawater.
'Oh my God! I thought he was dead!' Kadar cried, dancing around the confused Assassin happily.
'Where...am I?' he muttered, clutching his ribs where Malik had kicked him.
'On the beach, after you almost got yourself killed,' Malik bit towards him.
Altair narrowed his golden eyes. 'Oh, now I remember. I heard Kadar shouting, tell me to yell, so I did. And then I slipped and fell. I would have been fine, this wouldn't have happened if I had ignored him.'
Kadar looked hurt. Malik glared at Altair ferociously. 'Do not blame this on him!'
Altair shrugged rudely and made his way back to the bureau.
Malik stared at Kadar before remarking, 'I knew we should have just let him drown.
yeah... I need to stop making fanfics about Altair drowning. xD
