A/N: Okay, any long time fans know I've been putting out new stories at an insane rate for my account. To all the people that never gave up on me. The Island of Calypso
Chapter One: A Simple Task
It had started as a simple enough mission: investigate the Island of Calypso, an island rumored to be the end of any man who dare approach it's shores. This mysterious island appeared to have no inhabitants, not even animals, yet anyone who came to this island in search of treasure went missing and were never heard from again.
Rumors began to spread of a witch named Calypso that lived on the island and bewitched anyone who dared trespass on her land. Some rumors claim she ate her victims, others that she seduced them into staying while she sucked away their life energy.
Whatever the case was, a handful of men from the Whitebeard crew had gone to this island, against advisements, and never reported back. That had been a month ago...
As the second-in-command of the Whitebeard Pirates, it fell upon Portugal D. Ace to find these men and bring them back.
With this in mind, he set out alone to the Island of Calypso. No way was he gonna drag along extra guys. They'd slow him down and likely increase the risks this island presented.
The sun would soon be setting and Ace was no closer to finding his crew mates. The whole island was a beautiful tropic paradise bit there was no life here. Humans appeared to have been here once, there had been a decimated village he'd passed by on his way through.
What was up with this crazy island?
Just as he was about to give up for the night, a flash of color collided with him, effectively knocking him down.
He looked down to see a terrified young woman.
"Well, hello there. What's a young lady like you doing on this island? It's dangerous to be here, you know..."
She glares as she rights herself, standing and making distance between the two of them.
"Leave this place! You aren't welcome here!"
"Aw, don't be like that. Calm down and tell me your name..." He kept his tone cavalier as he slowly approached the mysterious woman, trying not to scare her away before he got answers.
"Please, you need to leave this island before the sun sets. I'm begging you, please leave!"
What was gonna happen when the sun set? Maybe this girl had some kinda connection to all the mysterious disappearances.
"My name is Ace. Some men who work under me went missing recently. Have you seen anyone else on this island?"
This made the girl tense. "I'm sorry, but they're probably dead. You will be too if you don't leave soon."
She started to run away from him but he gave chase, needing more than the half-truths she was giving. This girl knee exactly what was happening on the island. Now he just needed her to tell him.
"Leave me alone!" She tosses over her shoulder, not slowing in her momentum as she continued to charge forward.
