Enough
The sun was shining brightly. The sky was clearer than she could remember. She smiled widely and slowly walked towards the pond enjoying every second of the warm day. She closed her eyes and stretched her hands as if to hug the sun itself.
The dewy grass tickled her feet through her sandals. The crickets' song rang across the meadow. Late summer flowers filled the air with unique yet beautiful scent. She sighed contently and sat near the water. The glow of the sunrise mirroring in the pond was almost blinding but she couldn't tear her eyes off it.
The whole experience was fascinating and she couldn't think of a single thing she would wish more at that moment. Until she felt his arms creep around her waist. Until his lips found her collarbone and softly kissed it.
She didn't smell the flowers anymore nor did she feel the softness of the grass. The glow in her eyes had nothing to do with the bright sunshine. It was coming from deep within her soul.
All of the great feelings she had just a moment ago were gone. They were replaced by even stronger, more beautiful experiences. It was unbelievable how his mere presence, his light touch could make her feel this way.
She leaned against his body as he started playing with her hair.
"You are beautiful," he breathed in her ear, "you know that, right?"
She felt tears burning in the corners of her eyes.
"I love you so much!" she whispered loud enough for him to hear and looked at his eyes. They shone even brighter as he whispered back, "I love you too!"
They couldn't resist even if they wanted to. They kissed – a slow kiss, full of happiness, affection and pure love. They didn't have reason to hurry, they wanted to enjoy every second they had together.
She hugged him tightly as if her life depended on it. He held her closer admiring the feel of her beside him.
They broke the kiss but stayed firmly locked in each other's arms – his eyes gazing into hers, hers loosing themselves in their stare.
The sun was shining brightly. The sky was clearer than ever. The warmth enveloped them. The crickets' song rang all over. The air was filled with the sweet aroma of flowers.
And yet…
It was all lost to them.
They had each other and that was enough.
