Wind whipped long, lilac strands of hair in the air, but it didn't seem the owner cared. If anything, it added to the deadly calm feeling; the type you get just before a life-threatening storm.
The infamous detective believed this stunt - as some would call it - would indeed draw the perpetrator out. Recently, there has been a self-righteous serial killer on the loose in Spain, known to many as Sparkling Justice. Supposedly, the said serial killer was staying at the hotel beneath Kirigiri Kyouko's dark purple boots. Her heels click-clacked as she made her way to the edge of the roof. The closer the edge came, the more of the city below it revealed. After all, this particular four-star hotel was a good sixteen stories tall. This kind of drop would kill anybody, but it was a risk Kyouko was willing to take.
There was sufficient evidence to direct her to the real identity of Sparkling Justice: Takumi Hijirihara. This Takumi was given a letter containing all the information. Kyouko is going to kill herself if he doesn't make it in time.
Three minutes. The tips of her boots lined up with the roof's edge.
Two minutes. A soft sigh escaped her pale, chapped lips.
One minute. She peered over the edge without a single emotion coming to the surface and checked her watch.
Thirty seconds. Still no sign of him.
Fifteen. The detective deeply inhaled the dry, thin, and even chilly air.
Ten. A lot could happen in ten seconds.
Five. She leaned forward slightly; preparing herself.
Zero. Time's up. Kyouko allowed herself to fall forward, perhaps even willing it. The gusts of wind cradled her body as she began to fall as if preparing her for the end. Slowly, she closed her eyes. It was all in slow motion now: the way she fell and even the way the wind embraced her.
It all ended fairly quickly.
Kyouko opened her eyes, looking over her shoulder. There he was; Takumi Hijirihara, holding her tie and therefore keeping her from falling. It went all according to plan. "Are you mad?" His voice was uncaring, despite the situation. The detective righted herself quickly, as if she didn't almost plunge to her death. "You're under arrest."
