"But Daddy!"
"No."
Peter Parker was currently being plagued by his worst and favorite enemy ever. His daughter. She'd inherited his 'spidey' genes and loved them. Being a father though made him protective and over-baring. All he wanted to do was keep her safe and protected, but she had to be just like him. And because of that, he'd found himself in this particular predicament.
She was following him through the house, arguing with him about going out to test her 'spidey powers' as she called them. She tries them out whenever she can, which isn't that often thanks to him. She's just so young. She's not ready. No, not yet.
"But Daddy, you know Ima have to take your place one day!"
Stopping in the middle of the hallway with May behind him, hands on her hips, Peter sighed as he ran a hand through his hair. Staring at the door in front of him without seeing it, he thought. She was right. One day, he knew, she'd have to take his place. He may be this city's hero for now, but he was still human, even with his enhanced DNA and all.
"Let's put the suit on and then we'll see where it goes from there."
"Okay! Thanks Daddy," she exclaimed excitedly, squeezing him in a hug.
With a sigh, Peter walked into his room and drew the suit out from somewhere deep in his closet, tucked into a small case. Holding it up, he looked from it to his daughter before handing it over to her. Snatching it tight, May took it and ran for the room's bathroom. After about five minutes and a few bangs and surprised yelps later, she emerged from the bathroom. And Spiderman's eyes bugged in more fear then he'd felt when he first swung from his web or the first time his life was almost taken from him by the Green Goblin.
The suit fit much too tight for a father's liking. And because he was her father, he balked at the idea of her wearing the outfit. And much to May's distress, his answer to her question was,
"Absolutely not."
