It all started the night I answered the door. If I would've known who was behind it I most likely wouldn't of opened it at all. But I didn't. And that's where my story begins.
Prologue
"Is she dead?"
I heard the voice but it was far off as if I wasn't inside of my body. I lay limp on the ground as if my muscles gave up on me. I tried to move, even just twitch my arm or leg but I couldn't, all movement was impossible.
"Should we kill her?"
"Here comes Grimbond. Let's see what the king has to say about it."
Footsteps came closer and I realized that they must belong to the man they called Grimbond. After a few minutes the steps faltered and I heard a raspy voice.
"The king said we mustn't kill her, but we shall bring her to him."
"Anything else?"
"No. He just wants her alive."
I felt my body be picked up and strong, thick arms wrapped around my fragile body. Suddenly I felt warm as if a big, thick quilt had been put over me.
"Do you got her Lark?"
"Yeah, it's fine. I can carry her."
The voice of the man who was carrying me was deep and gruff, yet as he talked about me it has a slight edge of softness. I soon felt movement and I knew they were leaving where we had just been. But where were we going? I couldn't remember anything from earlier and I didn't know what king they had been talking about. All I knew was that somehow I was safe.
Soon enough we had obviously reached where they had intended to bring me because they stopped and put me down on something soft, like a mattress. I tried to move, but yet again it was a failed attempt. I couldn't do anything and now that I had been set down I didn't feel as safe. After a couple of minutes someone opened up the door and walked in. I could feel their eyes on me even though I couldn't open mine to see who was looking at me.
"Can you speak? Or are you still immobile?"
The voice was ruff yet kind and I realized the person talking to me was the king.
"Either way, I would like to introduce myself. I am King Opraga, but you already knew that. So how are you, my dear, dear daughter?"
