A/N: Lord Shen is awesome. SPOILERS FOR KUNG FU PANDA 2. Read and review!

Disclaimer: I don't own Kung Fu Panda

Stupid, stupid panda. Why does he have to come and rub it in his face? He knows he defeated. He knows that this battle is near done. The stupid, stinking' panda doesn't have to come and tell him.

"Scars fade," the panda tells him.

No, they don't.

He remembers the time when he was still in line to be a legitimate ruler of this city. His father would bring him sweet treats and hot, steaming buns from the best baker in town. His mother would occupy him with a toy of some kind while she was entertaining guests. He would sit in the silken chairs while watching the fireworks shower down on the rippling water.

Ah, the fireworks. No one saw the possibility those beautiful fireworks could bring. They could rule the world; let the Peacock name be known through all the lands and all the seas. They were fools, all of them. So idiotic and narrow minded. They never understood his genius. Forget about his parents loving him; they thought he was a shame to the royals.

That was a knife cut so deeply in his soul he never even realized it.

Well, he would show them all.

He remembers the hot iron sparks and the oppressing air of the forges. Glowing embers and sweat; that is what most of the wolves there remember. Not Lord Shen. He remembers anticipation, glee and beautiful balls of sparks and death.

And now, after so long, only to be defeated by the same enemy he sought to kill so long ago. Lord Shen has never liked irony.

"Change," the panda says. "You can." He knows, to some point. But truly, he has already gone too far and done too much. Why would he change? If he did, it would just be more disgraceful to him. Pushed to the brink of insanity already, one more blow and he's over. That is why he struck his sword. His gleaming sword at his enemy's throat, what a wonderful sight that would be, he thinks. And he won't give up, even now. Better to die than to give it all up.

One day, he'll show them all.
