Holding On
Sitting on the front of the impala on some back road should have held a sense of déjà vu, but it didn't. Sitting together sharing time and space should have been relaxing, but it wasn't. Dean sharing a beer with his brother like so many times before, only his brother wasn't drinking with him, he'd declined the offer.
Sam says nothing good ever comes from deals. Huh, then why the fuck are we "dealing" with Crowley? Dean wonders, but doesn't ask because he really doesn't want to hear the answer.
Dean did ask Sam if he'd changed his mind about getting his soul back, Sam had that look. The one that says I'm about to lie to you cause that is what you want to hear; a lie.
He says he wants his soul back but the leprechaun offered it to him and instead he killed the little shit! Not that Dean wouldn't have killed the bastard given half a chance…
But when it comes down to it, will Sam fight to get Sammy back? Dean's not so sure of the answer. He knows that deep down, he's the one fighting for Sammy… to get that illusive piece of Sam that makes him Sammy, back. He has to keep telling Sam why he needs his soul, being the soul for both of them, keeping him close until he can slam Sam's soul back where it belongs.
Sam said pretending to care was exhausting… Well, caring is pretty damn exhausting too, but here he was… doing it anyway. Dean has to care enough for them both. To see this through because the light at the end of the tunnel… is Sammy! Dean's holding onto that for everything it's worth!
Revenge is going to be sweet. Dean holds on to that, too. Crowley will get what's coming to him! Dean also clings on to the knowledge that he's going to enjoy obliterating Crowley off the map. Just maybe after Sam is soul filled he will enjoy that too.
