What's up, my peeps! Here's my next story! I told you guys that I would do separate one-shots from the series "After the War", and here it is! I love to fill in the wholes of Avatar (or any series for that matter). This one is about Aang and Katara talking after the Cave of Two Lovers. Alright, let me explain (lol). So I believe they never got a chance to talk about it during all the stuff with Omashu after (I kind of assume you saw the episode after that, "Return to Omashu"). I think this will be between "Return to Omashu" and "The Swamp", so when they transition to the Swamp. Hope that makes sense! I mean, they get around on Appa, so during the travels before "The Swamp" happens, that's when this takes place. One more thing, should this be an all Kataang account, or should I branch off to more things? Alright, hope you like it!

Question for this story: Who do you prefer Sokka with (Suki, Yue, Toph)?

Disclaimer: I don't own Avatar... wish I did though!

Enjoy!

After the events in Omashu, Team Avatar was planning to search the Earth Kingdom and hopefully find a teacher for Aang. They've been in the air for about too hours now, and everyone was starting to get cranky.

"Why do you complain about food so much?!" Katara shouted as she threw an orange at him.

"Well excuse me for trying to fulfill my stomach's needs!" Sokka yelled at his sister as he caught the orange in his left hand.

Aang was lost in his own thoughts on Appa's head that he didn't even notice the two siblings were bickering. Appa groaned a little bit, giving Aang the signal that they needed to land soon. He steered his reins to an open spot they could rest at, and they started to descend.

After landing, Aang jumped onto the saddle. The two were still arguing over nonsense.

"You're so needy! Ugh, sometimes I wish I could throw you off a cliff!" Katara yelled with her arms crossed.

"Go ahead and do it!" Sokka replied with a pouty lip.

Aang put his hand on Katara's shoulder. "Alright guys, calm down. Let's start setting up camp, Appa's exhausted."

Katara sighed, nodded at Aang, and began to unload Appa.

Sokka was still angry, and stormed off to get some fruit.

Soon enough, the sun had fell, and the moon was emerging. Sokka hadn't come back from camp yet, probably still upset after what happened during the day.

Katara was waterbending by a stream nearby, and Aang was deep in thought again sitting close to the fire they created.

The flames danced with heat and reflected in his stormy eyes. His thoughts going even deeper. He was still getting over what happened in Omashu, and even more disappointed he was gonna have to search the entire Earth Kingdom looking for a teacher. He looked back at Katara bending the water at the stream. She was struggling with a move. He sighed, water has always came natural to him, he was almost a master at it already. Katara, who was a master, still was struggling with certain things. Which was a good thing, not one person can be amazing at everything. That made Aang think about Katara even more (more than he usually does). Before Omashu, something else happened. The Cave of Two Lovers.

Meanwhile, at the river, Katara was having the same thoughts. Even though to Aang it looked like she was struggling, she was actually thinking of something else. She replayed the scene over and over again. Her hands moved the water slowly in the air as the thought through her head...

"We're gonna run out of fire any minute now..."

"I think so..."

"What are we going to do now?"

"What can we do?"

Katara's hand fell over Aang's as they looked into each other's eyes. As the flame disappeared, they leaned closer and...

Katara dropped the water in frustration. She grunted and looked over at Aang whose eyes fell on the fire again.

She sighed, and made her way over him. She wanted to make an attempt to talk to him about what happened, since the whole problem with Omashu gave them no chance to discuss it.

She sat down next to him, and he didn't even notice. He still stared at the fire.

To stop the silence, she tried to reach out to him.

"Aang?"

He finally looked up at her, and noticed her face illuminated in the dim light. Suddenly his cheeks started to turn red, but he tried to hide it as soon as possible.

"Uh... w-what is it, Katara?"

"You seem... you seem pretty infatuated by the fire..."

"Oh! I was um... I was just... Ugh! I don't what I'm doing. Just... thinking."

"About what?"

"Oh you know, stuff."

Katara smirked. "What kind of stuff?"

You. He thought. But of course, he didn't say that. He just looked back at the fire. Katara frowned, and started to worry.

"Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"Then why are you so quiet?"

"I'm just really deep in thought."

Katara sighed. This isn't getting anywhere.

"Aang, I know what you're thinking about."

He perked up. "You do?!" But then he realized what he was thinking about. He slumped. "You do?"

She rubbed the back of her head. "Yeah, I was kinda thinking about the same thing."

He raised an eyebrow. "Really?"

"Yeah. Can I take a guess?"

"Go for it."

"The Cave of Two Lovers?"

Aang sighed and looked down. "Yup."

Katara giggled. "I was thinking about it too."

Aang was still looking down. "I'm sorry for what I said back there. I was stupid."

"What do you mean? You didn't say anything bad."

"Yes I did."

"What was it about?"

He looked up at her. "About me not wanting to kiss you. I was stupid," he blushed. "I've uh, actually, wanted to kiss you for a long time..."

She blushed very hard, and planted a kiss on his cheek. He was shocked, now his entire face was red.

"Thanks, Aang. I uh.. I've been wanting to kiss you too."

His heart almost stopped, not believing one second of what is happening. Now both of them were blushing.

"Wow, I wasn't expecting that," Aang said his face still bright red.

Katara giggled. "Me either."

She leaned into him, and pecked him on the lips.

Now his face was a cherry. He rubbed the back of his head as Katara stood up, and made her way to her tent.

"Good night," she said.

"Good night, Katara."

Aang leaned back from his seating position, and lay on his soft grass, still processing what happened.

Soon enough, Sokka came back and raised an eyebrow, noticing Aang's face was red.

"What happened?" Sokka asked.

Aang stood up, shook his head and walked to his tent. "Nothing, Sokka. Good night."

Sokka looked at Katara's tent, and at Aang's tent, and looked at Momo who was messing with a bug crawling on a log.

"What happened?"

Lol I hoped you like the comedic ending. I don't think this could be canon, but I thought it was a cute idea. Sorry I've been a little behind with my stories.. stuff has been crazy with my schedule. I promise stuff will be up more frequently. Any feedback would be great! Hope you enjoyed, my peeps! :)
