I glanced carelessly at the note; it seemed to be like all the others—short, heartfelt, and to the point. I turned around in my chair to look at him. He was gazing at me, obviously expecting a reaction. So I flashed a nice smile at him. His whole face lit up and he grinned. Inside, I groaned; I hated to lead him on, but I dreaded having to tell him I didn't feel the same way. After all, things can change, right?

She'd gotten the note. This I knew for sure. I squirmed in my seat with nervousness—how long did it take to read three words? At last, she turned to face me. I tried to smile, but I dreaded her reaction.

And then she smiled at me. That perfect face, looking so happy—directed at me! I couldn't help but smile back.

And I knew I'd fallen for her. Hard.
