A little note before we start: I've never written fanfiction before, so pointers are welcome. I embrace pointers. Also, please let me know if my OC comes off as a Mary-Sue. As I said, I've never done this before, so I'm not quite sure how to tell if she's leaning a little close to Mary-Sue land. I hate Mary-Sues. Mary-Sues suck. The TARDIS will land and crush the Mary-Sues. Now, with that out of the way, let's get on with the story!

I do not own Doctor Who

Good Things Start In Traffic

----Valerie Greenwood walked down the street, humming the same song that had been stuck in her head for days. As she passed under a tree, a drop of water, left over from the recent rain, landed in her dark brown hair. Her westie, Juniper, tugged on the leash, begging to move faster. Valerie sped up a bit, but slowed right back down as her mind wandered through the rabbit hole. Juniper barked, and Valerie looked up and scaned the park with her brown eyes. Nothing. Juniper barked again, and Valerie moved her gaze to a nearby tree with something moving around in the branches. She rolled her eyes and tugged Juniper along the damp grass back to her car.

''Load up!'', Valerie said, gesturing to the door she just opened. Juniper jumped in, leaving muddy paw prints all over the backseat. Valerie sat down in the drivers seat, and let her mind wander once more, as she knew the route she was taking all to well. She had been walking Juniper here for years. In fact, Valeire remembered the very first time she and Juniper walked here.

It was Valeries 12th birthday, the day she had gotten Juniper, and her mother had driven both of them to park. They had walked for a little while, first around the playground, where Juniper had run to end of her leash to greet the swarm of five year olds that thought she was the cutest thing they had ever seen, then around the baseball field, where Juniper had gotten into a scuffle with a bulldog. After a while it had started to rain, so Valerie, Juniper and Mrs. Greenwood had rushed back to the car, where Juniper had layed on her back, licked Valeries face, and left enough muddy pawprints to make want to pull her hair out.

Valerie was jerked back to realilty when she nearly hit the car infront of her. And, as the red light turned to green, she could've sworn she saw a blue box flying through the pink streaked sky.
