The Doctor stepped out of the TARDIS, holding his sonic screwdriver in his right hand, his other hand holding the door open for Rose.
"Thanks," she said jokingly. "Do you think we'll get to have any fun?"
The Doctor grinned. "Oh, I think so."
Rose smiled and grabbed The Doctor's hand, dragging him into the bowling alley.
"Name?" a man with bright blue skin asked Rose, cutting her off.
Rose glanced around. "Oh, I'm Rose Tyler, I'm with-"
"Hello," The Doctor said cheerfully to the man. "The Doctor."
"Do you have a reservation?"
Rose glanced around at the packed bowling alley, full of blue-skinned people. "Yeah," she said. The Doctor showed the man his physic papers, then took Rose's hand and led her into the bowling alley.
"So what do you think?" The Doctor asked, looking pleased with himself.
Rose shrugged. "Oh, it's okay..."
"You don't like the Tredians?"
Rose glanced behind her at a blue little girl. "Well, um-"
The Doctor and Rose both burst out laughing. "What are we even doing here?" Rose asked.
"Haven't you ever heard of a vacation?" The Doctor responded, pulling out a chair for Rose.
"Not with you," she pointed out.
"Well, sometimes I do get a little busy," The Doctor said, shrugging.
Rose giggled. "Busy saving the world."
"I have done a lot," The Doctor agreed happily, "but I've never seen you bowl."
Rose froze for a second. "Oh no. Nuh uh. Not gonna happen."
The Doctor was already standing up. "Rose-"
"No-"
The Doctor put his arm around her, dragging her to a free alley and handing her a bowling ball.
"I'll probably drop it on my foot."
"I've never seen that either," The Doctor remarked thoughtfully.
Rose grabbed the ball. "Ready?"
"Yep," The Doctor said, sitting down on the ball rack.
Rose slipped her fingers into the holes in the ball. Then she rolled it.
It hit the two front pins, then the next two. The the sides. Then-
"Isn't that bad?" The Doctor said, looking up at the 7-10 split.
"Damn!" Rose kicked her foot against the floor, slipped, and fell backwards.
The Doctor caught her. Grinning, he said casually, "Oh, I reckon I can get it."
Rose brightened. "I bet you can't!"
"It shouldn't be hard," The Doctor said. "Once I went bowling in 2116."
"I bet you ten pounds you can't," Rose said.
The Doctor grinned. "Great! Ready?"
Rose smiled. "Ready."
The Doctor, dressed in his regular suit and overcoat, picked up a ball and, swinging his hand back, threw it.
The ball rolled, smashed into one pin, and then, spinning round, smashed into the other one.
Rose shrieked and threw herself into The Doctor's arms. "I have to tell Mum that you finally beat her bowling score!"
The Doctor hugged Rose, laughing. "It's funny how I do that," he said jokingly. " I always seem to win."
