Chapter one- Dreams
I was floating. I floated in a tank of fluid in a cold, bright, white, sterile place. I breathed through a respirator. I ate through a needle poking into my arms. I was confined to a glass cylinder in the center of the room, unable to get out, unable to be free. Who am I?
Fuzzy pictures floated before my eyes. A Gerudo in a white robe, two twin Gerudo who resonated evil. Sounds echoed through my glass prison. Beeping, talking, and the bubbles from my respirator.
What am I?
The lone Gerudo, not one of the twins, walked up to my cylinder.
I am ready to live.
:30~
Again, I floated, but bodiless this time. I watched an elfish- looking boy cross a rainbow bridge to an ominous dark castle. The castle floated above a massive lake of boiling, red-hot lava. The heat resonated through the bridge.
The dark castle was a truly frightening sight. It was colored utter black, dark terraces highlighted in silver poked out here and there. Gargoyles glared and grinned, baring their obsidian teeth and flashing their ruby red eyes.
The worst part was the area around the castle. A skeleton was laying in a corner, still in armor, a knight perhaps. The soil was tarnished red and black with ash and blood. It was hard to believe that this was the beautiful, happy place the boy had visited what felt like mere months before. In reality, it had been years. Seven to be exact.
The boy ran a gloved hand through his matted sandy hair. He was scared. Who wouldn't be? He was about to face the destroyer of Hyrule.
The boy had picked up news here and there, about what had happened the seven years that he slept. The Gerudo King had attacked the castle, destroyed anyone who got in his way. He sent his forces to raid the city, to find the Princess of Destiny. They had not succeeded.
I looked at the boy more closely. He was tall and thin. Ribs and spine could be seen through his bright green tunic. He wasn't malnourished, just naturally thin and lanky, like the fairies. He had fairy eyes as well. They were large, round, neon blue, and piercing from having seen more battles then necessary. He reached over his head and around his fairy companion to retrieve his sword and shield. The elf boy breathed deep and entered the castle.
:30~
The elf boy made his way to the top of the castle, following the depressing sounds of the organ. He was frightened. He could smell his own fear and hear his hearts hammering in his chest. He approached the final door and hesitated.
He wasn't one of the timid Forest Children, but he had imprinted on them just the same. They had raised him, implanting their instincts into him. That had bothered the elf boy few times. Once in the fire temple, he had wanted to seek tall, cool trees to escape the fire. He had stayed strong in the face of every forest dweller's nightmare, and he would here, too.
Again, the elf boy breathed deep and proceeded into the Boss Chamber. The Gerudo king met him there. He was a man from the desserts, tall and dark, in every sense of the word. Clad in black armor, he was a frightening sight.
The elf boy drew his sword. I woke up.
