A/N: Yes...I wrote something for Steven Universe. Quiet ya'll...its a good show, and I love these two. Anyway, here's a short little thing I wrote on Tumblr that I decided to put here too.

Its based on this image: post/123908128936/i-thought-about-maybe-a-first-meeting-like-this

Read&Review, if you desire.

Sapphire sighed as the transmission was forced off. She knew Homeworld wouldn't listen, but she still had to try. She glanced at the console to her left and sighed softly, knowing their destination, a nameless primitive planet. Homeworld wanted to make it a kindergarten, but that's not what the small blue gem saw there with her future vision. Instead she saw…death…and war.

Suddenly an unexpected voice pulled her back to the present. "So…What are we gonna do?"

Sapphire turned to find a small gem colored gem with dark hair. They were the same height, which was surprising. The red gem looked at Sapphire expectantly, apparently waiting for a response.

"E-Excuse me?" Sapphire mumbled shyly

The red gem growled and steamed for a moment, literally she was steaming before she explained. "You said gems will die. So what are we gonna do?"

Sapphire stepped back, glancing again at the console showing the blue and green planet. "Gems will die if we go to that planet…but I don't see what two little gems can do…?"

The red gem leaned in and whispered softly, not wanting the others to hear her words. "Two gems can do a lot…together…"

Sapphire blushed lightly at what the other small gem was implying. For a moment, she saw a flash of a tall purple gem wearing shades in her mind before the red gem called her attention once again.

"Well…I'm Ruby!" The red gem said with a large grin. She held out her left hand for Sapphire to take.

"S-Sapphire…" The small blue gem hesitated for a moment before reaching out and taking Ruby's hand, their gems touching for a moment. Though Sapphire quickly pulled away….or tried to.

Before she could pull her hand from Ruby's Ruby tightened her grip and suddenly ran off, dragging Sapphire with her.

"Where are you taking me?!" Sapphire yelped, unable to see the outcome of this.

Ruby smiled back at Sapphire cockily. "To Pink Diamond of course! She's one of the gems in charge, so she can help stop gems dying, right?"

Sapphire stared at the gem dragging her down the hall…maybe she was right. But she couldn't see…she couldn't see past this burning red gem that wore her heart on her sleeve. And that both scared and excited her.

AN: I may continue this later because I love these two...
