Death, blood, torture, captivity, stalking or hunting for days or weeks.
It is soft and comforting.
A tender touch, soothing sounds, stitching, settling, calming and healing the hurts that stack one on another.
For Sam, a brother's love is a bullet-proof vest. It is a balm to ease his pain. It is a beacon on a moonless night when all he can see is the darkness that is trying to swallow him alive, kicking and screaming. Or whimpering and mewling. He can't always tell.
Dean's love is an amorphous thing. Invisible, intangible, but always there.
